Compile error: `.bss' will not fit in region `RAM' when adding FreeRTOS tasks

Hello everyone,

I am using NUCLEO-F410RB Board embedding STM32F410RBTx Device and I was trying to port the FreeRTOS bare minimum(kernel w/o CMSIS) api here and it is throwing me an error when I create a bare minimum task(no global variables or arrays in the main either.)

Note: It is building properly when I am not using the FreeRTOS Apis.

The Linker file .ld says that the chip has this much Memory

/* Memories definition */
MEMORY
{
RAM (xrw) : ORIGIN = 0x20000000, LENGTH = 32K
FLASH (rx) : ORIGIN = 0x8000000, LENGTH = 128K
}

Any thoughts on what is missing over here?

Use the Build Analyzer -> Memory Details tab to find what is using all the space.

Thank you so much for the response.

This is the Build analyzer w/o calling FreeRTOS tasks, but when I add tasks in to main.c, the code is not even compiling, so I am unable to analyze how much space is occupied.

@TDK Can we use Build analyzer with out actual elf or executable?

I think you need an ELF to analyze.

Edit the linker file to increase the size of the ram, then compile it, then see what's taking up so much space.

Hey!! @TDK

Actually heap_4 was taking so much memory in my 32KB system that I ha to limit the heap to minimal size.

I modified the FreeRTOSConfig.h and it is compiling now for gods sake!!
