Third party stacks supported by STM32L4 - Profinet

Posted on February 16, 2018 at 16:21

It's possible to know which third party profinet stacks are actually available for stm32L4 devices? I have found confused information in ST links about compatibility. In ex: here can be seen how the whole stm32 family are supported by port's stack

<LINK NO LONGER ACTIVE>

but if you go here:

<LINK NO LONGER ACTIVE>

it can be seen how in port provider table stm32L4 are not supported.

My company is going to start a stm32L4 based project with profinet interface integration and we need to study the different market provided proposals.

Please, if someone could show me the correct and official information I will be grateful. I don't know who to contact in ST community. Please, I need someone who send me the refered information with the real list of the official and available profinet stacks for smt32L4 mcus. It will be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards.

The [PROFINET]

standard is maintained and supported by

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profibus_%26_Profinet_International

, an umbrella organization headquartered in

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karlsruhe

.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PROFINET

So, maybe,

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profibus_%26_Profinet_International

 would be a better place to ask?

https://www.profibus.com/pi-organization/about-pi/

They have a Product Finder:

Hello Eugenia,

ST collaborates with company named Hilscher in order to offer real-time Ethernet protocols. Result of this collaboration is hardware and software package, which provides various industrial protocols including PROFINET. This solution cosists of STM32 connected via SPI to external chip (netX SoC). Please check these links:

http://www.st.com/en/evaluation-tools/i-nucleo-netx.html

 and

http://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/products/embedded-software/mcus-embedded-software/stm32-embedded-software/stm32-3rd-party-embedded-software/i-cube-netx.html

. Example applications are provided for few differetn STM32 families, but if I remember well not for STM32L4. However I guess it should be possible to port it to STM32L4, as on STM32 side mainly SPI is used from the hardware resources.

Regards

Szymon

Hi

you shared, we have as partners providing Profinet stack:

,

.

As already answered by

Panecki.Szymon.002

‌, only Hilscher is currently providing a Profinet stack for L4.

Please note that

<LINK NO LONGER ACTIVE>

and

<LINK NO LONGER ACTIVE>

have dedicated partner spaces here in the community.

So you may ask them directly in these spaces for a dedicated L4 solution, if available.
