The “leave a reply” thing (clicking into which the editor appears) at the bottom of a thread appears/disappears as the thread is scrolled. This then leads to page “jumping” as it’s scrolled, as its size changes and things get recalculated on the fly.More importantly, the “appear” logic is wrong and when the page is resized to smaller size, that “thing” never appears. This - as all the other visual smog added for “modernity” - is entirely unnecessary and confusing. Just leave it there unconditionally.JW
Hello,Can the admin please help deleting my account permanently? If you are admin and read this then please do so asap. @changed01
Searching for tags when creating new topics does not match tags midword. Example: when searching for “Designer” the tag “TouchGFXDesigner” does not pop up… TouchGFXDesigner tag does not show when searching for “Designer”“TouchGFXDesigner” does show when searching for “Touch”
For questions relating to low-power modes. I wanted just now for a recent post related to low-power modes, and the Tag search didn’t find anything. But I’ve just seen that we do have PWR and POWER - so maybe this is just another case of improving the search?
It seems there are some threads still missing from the migration; eg, Is this a known issue?
This forum has a new ‘code’ format option - for source code keywords in the middle of plain text:It works fine provided, as above, you type the whole text first, then go back to add formatting. But, if you apply the highlight at the very end of a post, there is no way to “escape” - the whole of the rest of the post will be formatted!
When selecting an answer as “best answer” the original markup does not show up in the “best answer” preview. See belowOriginal post“best answer” preview ignores the original markup
The code block rendering does not correctly color comments / multi-line strings with tripple quotes in Python:Screenshot of the code block rendering Python code with incorrect formatting for tripple-quote strings.Lines 2,3 and 9 should have green text as well.
In the previous forum I could insert an image and if it was too large or small, I could resize it. Now when you click on the image, the resize handles no longer show on the sides or corners of image. Instead, it shows “Insert image caption” below the image.
I find it hard to write text after I inserted an image. Especially between two images.I end up writing nonsense text first as a placeholder and inserting the images around that. Then I edit the placeholder text. The old forum had a html view where you could easily place the blinking cursor after the image closing tag.For example it is hard to put text under the first image: The cursor can only be set to the image caption below the first image:So then I need to delete the second image first to get in between.I also don’t see the option to set image size anymore. Is it always full size?
For example, a table like this:This has been posted using the code editor, so it has inappropriate C syntax highlighting. On the old forum, there was a ‘Preformatted’ option in the paragraph formats menu: The ‘Code’ option in the new forum is not equivalent:It’s a character format - not a paragraph format. It doesn’t work for blocks of text (such as the table example above) - it’s for highlighting individual keywords within a paragraph. I made a post about this for the old forum in the How to write your question to maximize your chances to find a solution article (note that the new forum has mangled the examples in that post). We need an equivalent for the new forumPerhaps a ‘Plain Text’ option in the code editor?
In the editor pane’s menu row, the icon to enter Code is hidden under “...”. As it’s one of the most used things here, please change it with something else, e.g. the smileys (which are entirely unneeded in a technical forum), or the 3 line alighment icons (which are extremely rarely used in a technical forum), to be always directly present in the editor.JW
I am sad that I can’t use markdown in community.st.com To be honest, I am interesting in the only one feature: codeblock. I think that ``` or ```bash is very convenient and became industry standard. Even Telegram messenger supports it. Do you plan to add markdown codeblock style? It is weird to click on the … and click to “Code” item in menu… Are we on technical forum? Why we have quick access to Text color but not to codeblock? I feel like new community.st.com comes from outsource designer which really don’t understand content of the forum.
We’ve already noted the pointless notifications on a user’s own actions:https://community.st.com/feedback%2Dforum%2D118/don%2Dt%2Dnotify%2Dme%2Dabout%2Dmy%2Dcomment%2D166763 But the ‘Best Answer’ notification doesn’t identify when it’s my answer that was chosen: The old forum did used to distinguish “an answer has been marked” - ie, somebody else’s answer - from “your answer has been marked”
I am unable to change profile/username name can someone help me out

In this thread:There is a PDF attached. On the old forum, attached PDFs could be viewed online - without having to download.I can’t see how to do that now - clicking, or right-clicking and choosing ‘open in new tab’ both just try to start a download.Am I missing something?
Here: I guess it indicates a “sticky” post, but please add a pop-up - as for the ‘Solved’ tick:
If I start a post at the root of the forum tree, there’s no “Product forum” autofilled, and clicking “Create” returns the following red message:which is confusing, as there’s no “category” in the form (that line refers to the “Product forum” line). Also, I’d omit the “public” from “Please add at least one public tag”. The public does not need to know that there are other tags than public too.JW
In general, I hate when things do this: Just tell me the actual date! But, if you are going to do it, make it accurate: To meaningfully reflect the actual date, that should say two years ago!If it’s going to talk in years, then the value needs to be to the nearest year. Or just show both ?
I have copied this link from the post “STM32CubeIDE 2.2.0 released”:https://community.st.com/stm32cubeide%2Dmcus%2D28/stm32cubeide%2D2%2D2%2D0%2Dreleased%2D166532?postid=166532#post166532 But that link actually goes to:Text of the URL (with the https prefix removed, to stop the forum linkifying it):community.st.com/stm32-mcus-embedded-software-32/how-to-send-int-values-efficiently-through-cdc-usb-39682?postid=166532#post166532Which does, in fact have the same ?postid=166532#post166532 as the other link!
Periodic password expiry is now widely recognised as counterproductive; eg, from the UK National Cyber Security Centre:The problems with forcing regular password expiry Please stop this: Especially as it does allow you to just “reset” your password to exactly the same as it was before!
Related but different topic: I got a notification of a new post, but clicking on it didn’t bring me to the last post. I scrolled down to find the post and did not see it. I did ctrl+f to find the post by username and got the reply. It was very high in the thread. My beef is they are not chronological. But it’s also an issue that clicking on the notification did not take me to the post initially. I can’t reproduce that anymore.
Why? JW
Add webp format support for avatars and others. It helps to save disk usage and make user experience with this forum more convenient. For now I can’t use webp because “Sorry, we couldn't upload your file because we don't support that file type. Supported file types: .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .gif”
