STM32 MCUs Boards and hardware tools

Hi everyone,I am currently working on repairing my NUCLEO-F767ZI board (Revision: [MB1137 Rev B]). The 3.3V LDO regulator (U6) was damaged and needs to be replaced.While working on it, I found a hardware discrepancy: According to the official schematic, U6 is specified as LD39050PU33R (a 6-pin DFN package). However, on my physical board, the PCB footprint for U6 clearly has 8 pads. The damaged original IC I removed is an 8-pin package with the marking code "PH 2kE". Since a 6-pin IC cannot fit on this 8-pin footprint, has anyone encountered this before? Could you please help me identify the correct 8-pin LDO part number to replace it?I have attached pictures of the physical 8-pin IC and the 8-pad PCB footprint for reference.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am currently working with an STM32 MCU and facing an issue while trying to connect the board to my PC using an ST-LINK debugger. The board powers on normally and there does not appear to be any obvious hardware issue, but STM32CubeProgrammer is unable to detect the target device. The connection attempt either fails or reports that no target is found, so I am currently unable to program or debug the MCU.So far, I have checked the basic connections and setup:USB cable and ST-LINK connection Board power supply and voltage SWDIO and SWCLK connections STM32CubeProgrammer installation ST-LINK firmware and connection settingsI am not sure if the problem could be caused by the MCU configuration, SWD interface, boot mode, or some setting that may have been changed in the firmware. I would also like to know if there are any recommended STM32CubeProgrammer options or recovery procedures that should be tried when the target MCU is not detected.Has anyone experienced a similar issue with an STM32

 I have redrawn the NUCLEO-H5E5ZJ schematic as a personal exercise in understanding the architecture of the board and the STM32H5E5. I have consolidated the original multi-sheet design into a main STM32H5E5 schematic and a separate STLINK schematic, using port objects to make the principal interconnections explicit. During the redraw, I cross-checked the connectivity against ST's original Altium design files and the more recent PDF schematics.My aim was to show the MCU GPIO ports rather than their alternate functions, as I found this gave me a different picture of how the MCU is connected to the board. I have a custom board using an STM32G431RB (LQFP64) that was previously programmable/debuggable without issue. After switching to a new ST-LINK debugger, I started consistently getting:Error: ST-LINK error (DEV_TARGET_HELD_UNDER_RESET)Root cause identified: the board was being powered entirely from the debugger's VDD/VTref pin rather than an independent supply. Powering the board from an external bench supply (debugger providing only SWDIO/SWCLK/GND, not VDD) resolves the connection issue. My working theory is that the ST-LINK's VDD/VTref pin is intended as a voltage sense input, not a real power source, and different probe units/firmware versions apparently have inconsistent (often very limited) current-sourcing capability there — my original debugger happened to supply enough current for this board to stay stable; every replacement unit since (including confirmed-genuine ST-LINK/V2 and V3 probes) could not, leading to what looks like repeated brown-out resets rather than an actual st

Hi, I'm new to PCB design. I'm planning to build a handmade board for a project that uses the STM32F103C8T6, and I've run into some issues in certain parts of the PCB design. My board only has copper on one side (single-sided). For the HSE 8MHz and LSE 32.768kHz crystal oscillators, the body needs to be placed on the bottom layer, with the pins passing through holes to reach the top layer where they will be soldered. I'm concerned about the soldered area where the solder forms a fillet on the top layer, and whether this fillet, being in line with the OSC traces running toward the MCU, could cause problems. To put it simply: could the solder fillet of the crystal on the top layer cause frequency issues, reduced performance, or make it completely unusable? Since my project is currently in the experimental stage, I haven't built the board yet. The images I've included are just for better understanding and were collected from a few websites. What's your opinion on this?

Hi all,I have this kit but I don’t have any bolts holding the display PCB to the main PCB. I tried to look at the BOM for a reference to the part number but I don’t see anything for the bolts. I took one of the bolts holding the standoffs to the main PCB and it looks like an M4mm x 0.5 but I rather be sure before I order a few online. I have enough stuff that doesn’t match them and I rather not add more :-).Thanks

Hello,As indicate in the title I am trying to supply the MCU STM32L053R8 at 1.8V on the devkit NUCLEO-L053R8.To do it I opened Jumper JP6, which purposes is to monitor current, and I deliver 1.8V on the VDD signal.But the MCU is not working when I do that, my power supply is able to show me consumption and it stays to 0. I need to level up at minimum 2.8V to see some current consumption.Is there anything in particular  I need to disconnect to be able to power it at 1.8V ? I’ve tried to open SB21 to disconnect the Green Led connected to the MCU but it did not change anything. Also, I’ve try every power range and using MSI RC as SYSCLK.Please found attached my firmware which is, basicaly, only a while(1). Best RegardsThibaud

Board: STM32F429I-DISC1 (the official ST discovery board), using its onboard SDRAM chip (IS42S16400J-7TLI, 8MB)Framework: Zephyr RTOS 3.7.0What I'm trying to do:This board has a small TFT LCD screen attached to it. I'm trying to display an image/text on that screen by drawing directly into the external SDRAM chip, which acts as the screen's picture buffer (framebuffer) - the display hardware (LTDC) continuously reads whatever's in that SDRAM and shows it on the screen. So the whole approach depends on being able to reliably write pixel data into SDRAM and have it come back out correctly.The problem, in plain terms:Whenever I write a value into the SDRAM and immediately read it back, one specific bit out of the 16 bits always comes back wrong - always the same one, every single time, no exceptions. For example:I write:  0xABCD → I read back: 0xAB4DI write:  0xBADC → I read back: 0xBA5CI write:  0x89EF → I read back: 0x896FNotice in every case, the value comes back almost identical to wh

No PF0 or PF1 on NUCLEO-H533RE even though the schematic and documentation show PF0 on CN7 pin 29 and PF1 on CN7 pin 31.  Are pins 29 and 31 connected to anything or is this a documentation error?

Evaluating the STM32G081B-EVAL board, and I’m struggling to find the sizes of the two DC barrel jacks on the board and UCPD daughter board (5V CN16 and 19V CN3). As I understand it, it would be sufficient to power CN3 and let that power the mainboard, but I can’t find either of these sizes.Checking the BOM shows CN3 as Qiaod DC-094, but I can’t find any information about this either.Does anyone know what size of power supply barrel jack we will need for either (preferably CN3)?

The GT911 configuration (as far as I know registers 0x8047 - 0x8100, but maybe there is more?) on my module got overwritten by my experiments, and touch now has large dead zones, where no touch is registered at all. The driver/sensor channel map is specific to this panel and isn’t in any BSP, so I have no factory copy to restore from, and I also don’t have a 2nd board.Could anyone with a working DK dump their GT911 config and paste the values? (Or does ST have the default config for this module, I sadly couldn’t find it anywhere?) Hello,I would like to test the USB Host hardware functionality of my STM32U5G9J-DK2 board.For the software, I used the official ST example without any modification:STM32CubeU5/Projects/STM32U5G9J-DK2/Applications/USBX/Ux_Host_HUB_HID_MSCI performed two separate hardware tests: CN2 + USB-C to USB-A female adapter + USB mouse/dongle. CN2 + externally powered USB HUB. With the USB-C to USB-A adapter, LD5 does not turn on and the USB device is not detected.With the externally powered USB HUB, LD5 turns on, but the HUB is still not detected.In both cases, the application remains at:USB Host library started.Starting HUB ApplicationConnect your HUB DeviceI would like to confirm if these hardware tests are correct for checking the USB Host functionality of the STM32U5G9J-DK2.Thank you.

Hi, I have a problem configuring SPI3 on a NUCLEO-H7S3L8 board. Im writing directly to registers and not using any ready-made functions. I configured SPI3 and everything works correctly as long as I use PB4 as MISO. However, I wanted to use PC11 instead, and then I only read 0xFF. Im using exactly the same settings for PC11 as for PB4, and both are configured with AF6. My question is: does PC11 require any special configuration, or maybe something on the Nucleo board blocks it from being used this way?
