STM32 MCUs Boards and hardware tools

Hello, I am desiging PCB with STM32F030Fx where I plan to use blocks of 5 push buttons for reading user inputs.For the most of  tutorials, they use reading ACTIVE HIGH after the press, but I thought more common is to read ACTIVE LOW.Also there is internal pull-up ressistors according to the schemtaic, so probably not necessary to use external pull-up resitstor for it.Using 100nF capacitors should simplify debounce process.Is it reliable for readings?  

I soft-bricked a keyboard using a STM32F103C8T6 by, I think, trying to write too large an image, and I guess I overwrote the USB bootloader. I have an identical keyboard and I just ordered an ST-Link v2 but I haven’t been able to pull up instructions for cloning the firmware from the working board using the ST-Link. Is this possible?

Hello everyone.I have recently made my own STM32 board based on the STM32F405. After soldering all the components and testing all pads and connections, finding them to be wired correctly and checking that the 3.3V is being supplied to all the correct pins, I tried to upload some code, but to my shock, the STM32F405 isn't establishing a connection via the ST-Link V2 nor the USB cable. After trying multiple fixes, I suspect the issue might be the STM32F405 chip that I got off AliExpress itself. Before taking any further steps to replace it, I decided to post a question here for review in case the problem was in my PCB design. And sure enough, I had misplaced the chip pin due to the faulty pinout diagram I used as reference.I have since fixed the chip's orientation and rechecked all pad and pin connections, as well as the 3.3V supply, and found everything to be correct; yet I still cannot get the STM32 CubeProgrammer or IDE to connect with my board using the ST-Link V2 or a

Hi everyone,I need some help please on a choppy DSI signal.Long story short, I have decided to clone an STM32U5G9 disco board and build my own DSI driver using the same mcu in a smaller package running at 3v3 VDD. All seems to be fine, all voltages levels are correct on the screen after removing R8 and bridging R9 (backlight also works) and the VLXSMPS output is the same as on the disco (1.2V). I have signal on all DSI lines as well, as expected.But...Below I am showing you the DSI_D0N signal from the original disco board, followed by my custom one. The capture was with an oscilloscope on the direct pin output of the two mcu-s, so the screen was not connected in either scenario. It is clear to me that the low state of the signal is too noisy on my custom board and thus, not too surprisingly, I have no output on the screen. Can anyone give me a hint please over what I did wrong in my design?About the custom board, it is 2-layers, the DSI lines are all matched and no vias were used. The

Hi Community,An STM32L073R Nucleo board straight out the packet. Plug in the USB cable and immediately, the L073 gets VERY hot. LD2 is flashing which I presume is an application running in the micro. Have removed the jumper JP6 which supplies the L073 with power and everything remains cool (as we would expect) As soon as I replace the link the micro again, heats up.The power supply measured at JP6 with the link removed is a good 3.3V. and the board is recognised as a USB drive when connected.I have an older F401 Nucleo board which works without issue in the same setup.Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi everyone,I'm trying to program an STM32F0 MCU using an ST-Link/V2 through a TXB0108 voltage level translator module.My setup is as follows:ST-Link/V2 SWCLK, SWDIO, and nRST connected to the A-side of the TXB0108 STM32F0 SWCLK, SWDIO, and NRST connected to the B-side Both sides are powered appropriately according to the voltage translator requirementsHowever, when I connect the translator module, I observe that the nRST pin from the ST-Link/V2 drops to 0V. If I disconnect the TXB0108 and connect the ST-Link directly to the MCU, the nRST line remains at the expected VTref level (3.3V).I'm trying to understand what could be causing this behavior. Some questions I have:Is the TXB0108 suitable for SWD programming signals, especially the nRST line? Could the auto-direction sensing of the TXB0108 be interfering with the ST-Link reset signal? Are there any known issues with using TXB/TXS translators on SWD interfaces? What measurements or checks would you recommend helping isolate the probl

Greetings! A custom H523-based board has a 4-header connector [3.3V, SWDIO, SWCLK, GND] that I used with an external STLINK-V2 dongle connected to my laptop. Is it possible to debug this board using STLINK-V3 on my NUCLEO-U545RE-Q? Section 7.3 of the manual, Embedded STLINK-V3EC, does not mention this. Thanks.

Hello, I am using the stm32g47ret6 microcontroller and I am having troubles with transmitting and receiving data using the USART2 to my PC through the ST-LINK V3-SET. If I understand correctly, I left the v3-set configured as default (did not change the jumper configurations). I used MX to configure the usart2 module and used vcp_rx and vcp_tx for communication, used the pins PA3 and PA2 and also configured them in MX. I checked the baud rates, COM Port in my device manager. I am using tera term 5 to read the data, but I get a blank screen every time I start the program. To debug this, I tried probing the pins using an oscilloscope and I do see some repeated pulses, the baud rate matches and Uppercase 'U’ does give a square wave. I also checked the UART transmit status which shows HAL_OK in live expressions in the CUBEIDE. I am using a custom hardware board with the stm32g474ret6 mcu, it is connected to the st-link via the stdc14 connecter. This is the schematic for it.  Below is the c

 Hi, looking to power the NUCLEO-F767ZI off another board (which has a TPSM843320 buck), any issues with this as the 5V rail (E5V), on the dev board you have LD1117 LDO, but the rail I can provide isn’t high enough for the dropout.  Any spec on ripple or how clean the E5V rail should be? Seems to only be used by STLINK and USB.

Hi, I’m using Nucleo-64 development board with STM32H533RE. On the board,H533:RTC crystal is Crystal, 32.768kHz, 9pF, +/-20ppm, 70KR, 1.6x1mm and load capacitors are 3.9pF each.Crystal 24MHz, 6pF, +-20ppm, 80ohms max, SMD, and load capacitors are 6.8pF each. F723:on the same board, the STM32F723IEK6, it is Crystal, 24MHz, 6pF, +/-20ppm, 80R, 2x1.6mm and load capacitors are 2.7pF each.should the RTC load capacitor value close to 15pF each? should be 24Mhz load capacitors close to 10pF each? why STM32F7 and STM32H5 24MHz have different capacitor values?Thank you for your concerns

STM32CubeProgrammer settingsJust got a NUCLEO-L476RG and connected to my computer. I cannot connect to it with STM32CubeProgrammer or STM32CubeIDE2.0.I had STM32CubeMX generate some code to blink the LED and haven’t changed any code in IDE.How to I actually connect to this board?I have tried changing to hardware reset, holding reset button pushing connect in Cube, then releasing etc. I am able to run Firmware upgrade in Programmer and it says it completes successfully. debug authentication discovery fails also IDE Debug error: (when I connect the board it opens in file explorer automatically)

I purchased a brand new Nucleo board. plugged it into my computer, USB device detected, please update firmware; yes; then the process stopped “Error 33” Now my BRAND NEW  nucleo board seems bricked.  Is there any recovery mode?  I have tried several times on STM32 Cube Programmer; The board is detected,      Does anyone have any suggestions? - This does not bode well for my first introduction to ST. What a flaky system. I have changed cables etc, several different combinations, changed USB ports, rebooted, all of the standard stuff.  It seems as though the Nucleo board’s serial number is being detected.  The firmware update process starts, runs for a few seconds, several red LED flashes, then halts and gives error 33.  

I am using the STM32H7B3I-EVAL board. According to the user manual, both the ST-LINK Virtual COM Port and the RS-232 connector (CN9) use USART1 on PB14/PB15 in the default configuration.I have configured USART1 in asynchronous mode with:TX: PB14 RX: PB15 Baud rate: 115200 Hardware flow control: NoneThe ST-LINK VCP works correctly, and I can see the transmitted data on the PC. However, the RS-232 port on CN9 does not work.I am using a DTECH USB-to-RS232 cable connected to CN9.My questions are:Is any jumper or solder bridge configuration required to enable the RS-232 port, even when using PB14/PB15? Since both ST-LINK VCP and RS-232 share USART1, should the transmitted data appear on both interfaces simultaneously? Does CN9 require a straight-through RS-232 cable or a null-modem cable? Has anyone successfully used the RS-232 port on STM32H7B3I-EVAL with a USB-to-RS232 adapter?Any suggestions on what else I should check would be appreciated.

I’m having an issue with throughput on the STLINK-V3MODS VCP when used with the second BRIDGE UART.  If I set both the VCP and 2nd VCP for 115200 baud, I am only able to simultaneously send 5.76 KiB/s through each (half throughput).  If I use only the VCP at 115200, I’m able to send 11.52 KiB/s (full throughput).I saw no mention of any such limitation in the documentation.  Am I doing something wrong?STLINK-V3MODS firmware 3.17.11Windows 11 version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8875) 

Hi all,I'm reusing the STM32H7S78-DK's Octo-SPI flash (MX66UW1G45G) and Hexadeca-SPI PSRAM (APS256) sub-circuits on a custom board and want to match the DK's signal integrity. I can't find the fabrication stackup or impedance spec in the docs. Could ST share, for the DK (please confirm board rev):Full layer stackup — copper weights and each dielectric thickness/material. Target impedance (single-ended + any diff) and tolerance for the Octo-SPI / Hexa-SPI nets. Trace width/spacing for those buses, and their routing layer + reference plane. Any length-matching constraints on those groups.For reference, the published Altium reference-design project ships with an unconfigured stackup (single 1.5 mm dielectric, all layers typed Signal), so it doesn't reflect the real fabricated stack — which is why I'm asking for the actual values.Thanks!

Hi everyone,​I'm currently developing a MIDI controller/audio device for guitar VST plug-ins.​The project features a guitar audio input using the CS4272K IC connected to an STM32F446RET6. Additionally, the STM32 will operate in USB High Speed mode using Microchip's USB3300 PHY.​My main challenge at the moment is finding or designing the standalone minimum circuit (schematic) for these components to move forward with the project. I’m only in need of the LCD/touch panel, I have the PCB (MB1860A). The manufacturer Rocktech show no info that I could find. Nothing comes up in octopart.com either.Thanks.

Hi, Please forgive my ignorance in advance.I have been asked to acquire the equivalent of the hardware show in the attached photographs (both items).I am hoping that someone in the community can point me at the relevant product in on this website. Hello,I am debugging USB function on STM NUCLEO-H723ZG demo board. I set the USB_DEVICE Mode as CDC(Virtual Port) mode. USB_OTG_HS can as below.Now I can get the virtual port number on the computer. But the VBUS over current LED (LD7) is always on. It indicates the VBUS over current. But I have configured the EN pin of STMPS2141STR as high (Set PD10/USB_FS_PWR_EN) to disable this fault. Can anyone please help to check what’s the problem? Thanks,

Hi,after starting with Nucleo-L432KC development board I need to switch to a variant with more I/Os, and thus I’m creating a stand-alone development board with STM32L462CET in LQFP48 package.I purchased a STLink-V3MINIE for programming/debugging but, like others, was confused on how to properly connect the STLink to the MCU. Since various answers are given in lots of threads I summarized in a simplified sketch what I consider as correct.Please have a look on attached schematic and configuration of MCU done in CubeMX. To keep it as simple as possible I removed everything but the MCU, the STDC14 connector of the V3MINIE and just an LED to apply the minimum blink-example.Please, focus on the connection of STDC14 connector and BOOT0. I think, with this, it is possible to download the blink-software and run the debugger. Am I correct?RegardsSebastian
