I agree with you that it would be a valuable feature in our community, however, it is not currently available. I contact our platform provider regarding this improvement and keep you informed on this thread. 

Having said that, the topic you linked is most probably not related to the functionality.

The relation is that it illustrates a case where one might wish to search for a user

As a workaround, you can limit Google searches to a specific site, using the site: option;

eg, site:community.st.com will limit the search to just this community.

So, with that, you can search for a name - and restrict that search to just this community.

I guess other search engines will have similar features.

 

The same approach can be used for other searches - where the very limited built-in forum search fails ...
