Posted on December 12, 2016 at 00:44I am using the STM32F469 on three devices. One device works fine and starts normally after the power is applied. The other two only start operating after the nRST pin is briefing pulled low. There is 3.3V on nRST after powering it up, indicating the power on reset is ok, but the micro fails to start running.Attaching the STM debugger and checking the MCU core it says it is halted. Clicking run starts the device working.What could cause the device to power up correctly but not start the program running?

Posted on December 06, 2016 at 14:00Hi community! Jan Here, Cezch Republic. I am working on my project where i need to process audio for further uses. My first step is obviously get my data from mic. I have decided to use the MP45DT02 MEMS mic that is present on my stm32f4 discovery board. I have already successfully got working example (Audio_playback_and_record). I used that example to help me understand basics of .wav and also pdm lib. I have also observed settings necessary for setting up i2s2. I replicated those settings using CubeMX and created project. Now i am facing following problem:I never receive interrupt when debugging ( SPI2_IRQHandler(); is never called). So what am I missing? I have thoroughlly read through comments at stm32f4xx_hal_i2s.c librarry. I believe most of the actions (settings) were actually made by CubeMX so i dont need to do anyting. I would expect i2c start generating clock for the MEMS mic and i would expect pdm stream to start

Posted on December 12, 2016 at 16:23Question - What is the safest way to 'peek' at the STML152 program counter? Ideally something in the standard HAL files (so no ASM; I am working under AC6 in C). I wish my code to understand if it was loaded/is running in the lower 1 of 2 flash banks (? PC < 0x8004000), or in the upper 2 of 2 banks (PC > 0x8004000).Background - this is a kind of dual boot issue, but not really. The L152 has 512K flash in 2 x 256K banks and we plan to load 2 similar images in the two 256K banks. We'll always boot from the lower bank image, but wish to load field fw upgrades into the upper bank image, understanding that the reflash might fail & need to be erased completely. The upper bank will be re-written by our own code (FW read from a special secure SPI token), and that loading code will be linked to load/run from the upper bank only. The goal is to treat the lower bank as a 'factory default image', and the upper bank as a 'field written & perhaps br

Posted on December 09, 2016 at 09:39I have designed two different data acquisition boards with STM32F407 MCU. Everything is OK. Now I would like to customize the USB CDC driver. I changed the MFG name in the .inf file provided by ST. This works in Win7 nicely (But not in Win 8, I think because of the digital signature file.)Now when I connect both boards to one PC, some problems happen. As I know each USB device should have a VID and PID. VID should be bought from usb.org and it is really expensive. But we can use the VID of ST chips. Is it possible to change the PID of my product to avoid confusion in this situation?Has anyone any similar experience?Thanks in advance.#usb #pid #driver #vid #cdc

Posted on November 29, 2016 at 17:45 Hello, I'm trying to connect stm32f4-discovery with Android phone supporting otg through USB virtual port. The microcontroller should work as device and smart phone will be the host. I used CDC library on stm32f4 side and do I need driver for Android to communicate via USB? because when I connect stm32f4-discovery with phone I cann't send or receive any thing, moblie even doesn't feel that I have connected the kti with it! Thanks in advance

Posted on December 07, 2016 at 15:40I am writing an application in C# that AES-encrypts some data that is then decrypted inside an STM32 using STM32 Cryptographic Library. My C#-class (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.security.cryptography.rijndael(v=vs.110).aspx) can encrypt using different types of padding (ANSIX923, ISO10126, PKCS7 and with zeros). I have not found a way to specify the padding for the function in the STM32 Cryptographic Library.Right now, my decryption fails because of padding-issues.I use AES 128-bit, CBC-mode.What padding is used in STM32 Cryptographic Library?How to I change the padding mode?Thanks

Posted on September 22, 2016 at 04:21I recently completed a Seminar about the Cortex-M7 and when I got home, I updated my ST-Link Utility from 3.8.x to 4.0.0.0. The earlier version worked, the new version crashes every time I try Target -> Connect. I also, did an ST-Link Firmware update and it still crashes. Any ideas? #st-link-crash-v4.0.0 #st-link-windows-10-crash

Posted on December 08, 2016 at 11:38Hello,Using current HAL-software generated with cubemx on stmf4_discovery board.I use TIM7 as an interrupt generating timer, set at say 100 msec.In the ISR I do:    i = HAL_GetTick();    delayms(12);    tt  = HAL_GetTick()-i;where delayms is a busy waiting loop (normally our application code would go there).And tt is a global int.I would assume that tt would normally be something like 11, 12 or 13.But it is always 0.The (default) interrupt priority of TIM7 is much lower (higher number) than Systick, so why isn't the system tick not updated in that 12 msec?Or am I missing something?

Posted on December 08, 2016 at 10:45Hello,We are designing a new product around the STM32L081, in reading the reference manual : http://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/technical/document/reference_manual/21/bd/0f/bd/1c/88/40/f0/DM00108282.pdf/files/DM00108282.pdf/jcr:content/translations/en.DM00108282.pdf,We have two tables concerning the boot mode which are not giving the same mode for BOOT0 ; BOOT1 combination.In the chapter 2.4 Boot Configuration, And in the chapter 3.3.2 Dual-bank boot capability,We have the following table discribing the different Boot Mode in Dual BankThe two tables are telling opposite information concerning the boot mode regarding the value of BOOT0 and BOOT1, for Embedded RAM and System Memory booting.Which table has the corrects values or did I miss something ?Thanks,Sylvain

Posted on December 07, 2016 at 14:04 Hi everyone, I'm working on a project and i'm a beginner on STM32F0. I have the discovery board. I have the code at the bottom of the page but i don't understand many parts of it... In this code i have the following question : What's the difference between this instruction BUTTON_MODE_GPIO and this instructionBUTTON_MODE_EXTI. There is someting with the interruptions... I don't really understand. When the button mode is exti, when i press the user button, I generate an interruption ? And when the button mode is GPIO what happens ? It's a bit difficult for me ... Normally, it works like that : ''After reset, the program waits for User button connected to the PA.00 to be pressed to enter the selected low power mode. '' In the below code, it's the SLEEP MODE. ''- When the RTC is used, the wakeup from low power mode is automatically generated by the RTC (after 5s). '' useffull for the STOP MODE ''- In Sleep mode and Standby mode, pres

Posted on November 17, 2016 at 14:54Hello, I would like to design a system with a controlled consumption in the RF side of the CR95HF. I have read different application notes and made some calculations using your Excel matching file, but still have some doubts. 1. The current can be calculated as I_tx = (VPS_TX) / (Zout + Zmatching)? 2. The datasheet says its value is between 70mA and 100mA for 3V output voltage operation. It means an impedance between 30 and 42 ohms, but the recommended is 27. Where does this 100mA values come from? 3. What is the maximum current I can drive to the antenna? 4. Should I set the operating voltage (3V/5V) via register or it is automatically set with the voltage level at VPS_TX? Thank you #cr95hf

Posted on August 18, 2016 at 16:50 I have a custom board with STM32F446RE, with RTC powered by coin cell batteries. After testing 2 boards in the field for several days they stoped working and, while debugging, I realised that there a timeout in the LSE initialization: HAL_StatusTypeDef HAL_RCC_OscConfig(RCC_OscInitTypeDef *RCC_OscInitStruct) { (...) stm32f4xx_hal_rcc_ex.h : line 2257 __HAL_RCC_LSE_CONFIG(RCC_OscInitStruct->LSEState); if ((RCC_OscInitStruct->LSEState) != RCC_LSE_OFF) { /* Get Start Tick*/ tickstart = HAL_GetTick(); /* Wait till LSE is ready */ while (__HAL_RCC_GET_FLAG(RCC_FLAG_LSERDY) == RESET) { if ((HAL_GetTick() - tickstart ) > RCC_LSE_TIMEOUT_VALUE) { return HAL_TIMEOUT; // RETURNS HERE!!! } } } else (...) } This happens during my SystemClock_Config: void SystemClock_Config( void ) { RCC_OscInitTypeDef RCC_OscInitStruct; RCC_ClkInitTypeDef RCC_ClkInitStruct; RCC_PeriphCLKInitTypeDef PeriphClkInitStruct; __HAL_RCC_PWR_CLK_ENABLE(); __HAL

Posted on November 28, 2016 at 18:40First of all I suspect someone somewhere has an L476 running the USB peripheral using HAL. Maybe?From the HAL libraries - I've got several aspects of peripheral running on my Nucleo-L476RG development board. I/O, Uart, Uart IrDA modes, Encoders. A/D's...etc..  So I figured I had a fairly decent handle on the basics of what it took to get things going MSI comes up first at 4MHZSet up clock sources/frequencies until they are how you need them Enable the clock sources to the buses/peripherals as you need them Configure the pins how you need them (In/Out/ALTF/ADDF) Make any peripheral initializations and you are good to go. Usually.Using TrueStudio 6 and the the HAL 1.6 (Black Friday updated) version of the EVAL\Project\Application\USB_Device\CDC_Standalone pretty much has me fried.I have a Nucleo board which does NOT have any USB example stuff for it. The EVAL board however DOES have it - code folders/path listed above.Since 1. The nucleo board on

Posted on December 07, 2016 at 19:16Hello !I did implement a fast transmit queue successfully for serial port printing. That works well with a development board. But in my real circuit, the TX pin is driving the LED of an opto-isolator. The result is that it still works but it inserts a faulty character after each completed DMA transfer. I found why: when the transmission completes, the tx pin go to high impedance state instead of continuing to drive a 1. So the LED is not driven and it appears like a 1 on the other side. Because the print buffer is often full, the high impedance state duration is very short, 15us. With 115200 baud it looks like a valid zero while it is just the time it takes to re-enable the UART in the interrupt. I could add a fix with a pull-up resistor, but this have serious drawback in the application context. I am looking to find a firmware way to do it. This is roughly how I am using the HAL drivers:The HAL_UART_Init() is called before starting the main lo
