Posted on December 22, 2016 at 10:14 I work with STM32F4Discovery board, generate code from Cube, SYSCLK is 168MHz, APB1 Timer Clock 42 MHz, TIM6 has prescaler 1000, and counts till I make the following experiment. Enable TIM6 interruption by __HAL_TIM_ENABLE_IT(&htim6, TIM_IT_UPDATE); HAL_NVIC_EnableIRQ(TIM6_DAC_IRQn); Start DAC_DMA in normal mode with 30-elements array. Count how many timer interruptions happen void TIM6_DAC_IRQHandler(void) { HAL_TIM_IRQHandler(&htim6); tim6Counter++; } Set breakpoint in this function: void HAL_DAC_ConvCpltCallbackCh1(DAC_HandleTypeDef *hdac) { conversionCounter++; } What I expect: 1) HAL_DAC_ConvCpltCallbackCh1 is called once (due to noncircular mode). It is true. 2) When it's called tim6Counter has to be equal 30, as length of DAC data buffer is In experiment tim6Counter is 1. 3) After DAC is completed, set breakpoints to TIM6 handler, and to main while(1) loop. The problem is, that it hangs in TIM6 han

Posted on December 20, 2016 at 17:32I am using the LSM6DS3 component in a design. I've used the component in the past (and always liked it), but never in this capacity. I am using I2C for communication with 10k pull up resistors and am powering on/off the sensor with a separate power bus than my micro controller. I have the interrupt pins connected to my micro controller, although they are not in use. The issue I am experiencing is that when the power for the sensor is turned off, the I2C lines are being pulled low. When the power for the sensor is pulled high, the I2C lines are high as expected and I can communicate to other peripherals on the I2C bus. In effect, powering down the sensor is pulling down the entire I2C line, drawing extra current in my system and preventing other I2C communication. Is this a problem you can provide insight on? I wasn't sure if the module supported this mode of operation, where the power was off while the I2C bus is used for other communicati

Posted on December 21, 2016 at 12:23Hi,I'm using STM32L486RG microcontroler with IAR IDE V7.4.For the moment, I do use FreeRTOS V8.2.1 which is integrated by ST Team in STM32CubeL4 Package. Now i aim to upgrade my FreeRTOS to V9.0.0 in order to integrate FreeRTOS+ TCP and FAT libraries. However, I didn't find any support from ST showing how to integrate this new version of FreeRTOS with FreeRTOS+ using IAR IDE. What I tried is to include FreeRTOS V9.0.0 and added the old CMSIS_RTOS files developped by ST for FreeRTOS V8.2.1 version. All things are OK but I start getting mysterious compile errors once I add the FreeRTOS+ Libraries in my project :(I downloaded the Freertos+ library from this http://www.freertos.org/FreeRTOS-Labs/RTOS_labs_download.htmlSo, who have ideas about including the FreeRTOS+ Library correctly? maybe I'm missing something.I'm really in urgent need for help ! thanks in advance for your support and interest.#stm32l4 #freertos #cmsis-rtos #freertos+

Posted on December 13, 2016 at 00:28So I'm running a program on an STM32L073 that puts the device into stop mode to minimise power consumption. After flashing the device (via ST-LinkV2) it starts up and enters stop mode where it is consuming around 135 uAAfter a soft reset (reset button or program) when the device enters stop mode again it consumes the same current. However if the power is re-cycled upon entering stop mode it consumes around 5 uAAfter a soft reset it consumes the same.So I'd appreciate views on what could be running, or how to identify what could be running, in stop mode after flashing. As I'd like to switch that off!Pretty sure that it is actually entering stop mode in the former case as putting it into sleep mode the consumption is significantly higher than 135 uA.(maybe something to do with RTC and backup domains, which survive normal flashing, but can't think what would cause that level of consumption).   Thanks, Ron

Posted on December 19, 2016 at 19:45Greetings,I need to come up to speed quickly on the STM32F4 series processors. I have been in embedded development for a number of years and have experience with Renesas, PowerPC, and PIC32 processors, etc and now I need to know about ST processors.I hope I am not asking seriously stupid question but I really would like to find some simple sample code for GPIO, ADC, timers, etc. I have looked through the ST site and I am sure I missed something but I feel like instead of sipping I am being drowned by a fire hose. I am setting up the device using STM32Cube but I really would like some example code for the peripherals I listed above and others. I looked in the programmer's manual thinking it would list commands and syntax for setting up GPIOs, etc but found nothing.I have found some snippets of code here and there but some of it is confusing. For instance the following line is supposed to OR-IN GPIOB pin 6 as an output  but the shift looks wrong

Posted on December 20, 2016 at 10:45I'm putting together a project based on the Nucleo-F031K6 board, but I've had real trouble tracking down clear and accurate pinout definitions for the board. The first information I stumbled across was the http://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/technical/document/user_manual/e3/0e/88/05/e8/74/43/a0/DM00231744.pdf/files/DM00231744.pdf/jcr:content/translations/en.DM00231744.pdf (pages 21-22), which lists pins PB3, PB4, and PB5 as the SPI1 output pins. However, I was confused to find that this conflicts with the pins used in the examples included with the STM32Cube code library (PA5, PA6, PA7). Upon further investigation I discovered that page 27 of the http://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/technical/document/datasheet/4d/c2/7e/10/77/4f/4a/60/DM00104043.pdf/files/DM00104043.pdf/jcr:content/translations/en.DM00104043.pdf MCU disagrees with the Nucleo user manual, but agrees with the code in the STM32Cube library. To me it seems obvious that th

Posted on December 18, 2016 at 13:12Hi, I'm creating the project using STemWin, and FreeRTOS on STM32F407IGT. My program is blocked in GUI_Init function. I'm not sure how to check what is wrong, set up in wrong way(?).The R2 and R3 registers are loaded, and next they are compared. These values are not equal, so that's why the program remains in the same place. When I set PC on 0x800695A address, the program runs correctly, LCD is initialized, and FreeRTOS runs. Could someone point me, what should I check to fix this?I'm using FreeRTOS 8.2, and STemWin 5.32#stm32f407 #freertos #stemwin

Posted on December 17, 2016 at 16:48 I have an STM32F103 that I would like to use for I2C communication. I have been using the 'Optimized examples for I2C' with the STM32F1, but I have modified it to send a subaddress before performing the read. With my modifications to the optimized examples, I can only receive one byte. Trying to receive two or more bytes always results in a NACK on the first byte, instead of the second. I can't find anything in the documentation describing this behavior, or if there is a difference in receiving two bytes with or without a subaddress. I'm probably just not looking in the right places. I hate how I can't just post a couple lines of microcontroller code to fully describe my problem, but I don't know what else to do. Here are the relevant lines of my function. uint32_t timeout = I2C_DEFAULT_TIMEOUT; uint16_t temp; // send subaddress if we need to if(reg_ != 0xFF) { /* Send START condition */ I2Cx_->CR1 |= I2C_CR1_START; /* Wait until SB

STM32 cube MX tool is used for generate code for TrueStudio. Here is my problem, when i sent AT command modem responding with OK and reading messages also. For that i am using USART2 to display received message on PC terminal using MAX3232 converter. If i want read the message which is received , in that received message some part of message is missing.i tried to increase the buffer size & receive length in the HAL_UART_Receive_IT  function but not worked out.I am using usart1 receive interrupt .Receiving uart message are not exact what we need to receive some of sending characters also received.uint8_t  uart1_aRxBuffer[150],send_Buf[100];HAL_UART_Transmit(&hua

Posted on December 15, 2016 at 23:38Just wanted to mention a small bug in CubeMX 4.18.0. I am using STM32F446ZET. It has two I2S peripherals. When I configure I2S1 in the Pinout tab, the Clock tab shows the clocks wired for I2S2. And vice versa. The chosen pins, Configuration and generated code are all correct, it just seems the Clock view gets them swapped.

Posted on November 04, 2016 at 15:57Hi,I would like to use IIS2DH accelerometer as main accelerometer in a custom board for my project. For this reason I've bought the STEVAL-MK1168V1 to make some tests. I would like to ask you some questions about this product, since they are not well specified in the datasheet I've downloaded from the product page site.1) I usually program with Atmel microcontrollers, so I've made the same this time. What I've done is to link both i2c pins, Vdd and Vdd_io to Vcc=3v3, GND and both INT1 and INT2 pins. i2c communication works fine but i can't handle interrupts generated through INT pins.I set the Int1_cfg register to binary 00111111 (OR combination of all axis events), the I1_A01 bit on ctrl_reg3 to 1 and, after moving the board, I cheked the int1_src register I've seen that IA, ZH, YH, XH bits are set, so what I've expected was an interrupt on INT1 pin, but the corresponding callback on microcontroller doesn't start. The callback seems to start only i

Do you know if it is possible to generate an interrupt with the sensor self test ?If I program a low interrupt threshold and I launch the self test of the sensor, is it possible to see the interruption ?Thanks a lot for your help.

Posted on November 09, 2016 at 06:13 Hi, In the project properties setting, I am using arm-none-eabi-gcc toolchain. This time toolchain is Ac6 STM32 MCU GCC and builder CDT internal. Problem is if I add h files in HAL library that error log suggest me to do, it solved and if I build project again it shows the problem in CMSIS include H files. Such as, 1. Looking at C code structure related reason, yes I found some style of C coding in CMSIS h files is differ

Posted on November 28, 2016 at 17:59Hi everybody,We are using LIS3DS0 on the ISK01A1 board monted on a Nucleo F103-RB...Our software is based on HAL drivers (got in the cube). We met this strange issue in some of our boards (we confirmed the test with many students and dozens of boards):1- we plug the board2- the accelerometer failed to initialize. (due to the WHO_AM_I register which is 0xD4 instead of 0x68).We can reset again and again our STM32, without any change. Then we program a flush of registers of the LIS3DS0.We confirm the registers seems to correspond to another component (L3G3200D) !(WHO_AM_I of 0xD4, )But, when we do the following steps, the component run well :1- plug the board2- -> fail to initialize3- get off the JP2 jumper4- ensure temporarly 0V on the Vcc of sensor (with wire) (to avoid a 2V power by I2C bus)5- get on the JP2 jumper-> It works! We can reset our STM32, it works each time.Any idea????!!!Thanks! #lis3ds0-iks01a1-initialize-fail

Posted on December 14, 2016 at 13:59Hello everybody I am using stm32f030F4 in my project and  i need a timer with frequency 200kHzI set timer1 for this frequency and  toggled a pin in timer callback function  and watch with oscilloscope i can see a signal with frequency 100kHz this is ok so far but when i made some additional operations like toggle another pin the interrupt frequency speed droping about 4kHz if i add one more toggling  it is dropping about 40kHz And i tried to make it with flag and do the operations in while loop but it is also droping so i cant make the system work stable.i am using stmcubemx to create project and i set timer and others clock 48 MHz my timer configuration is like that:htim1.Instance = TIM1; htim1.Init.Prescaler = 0; htim1.Init.CounterMode = TIM_COUNTERMODE_UP; htim1.Init.Period = 239; htim1.Init.ClockDivision = TIM_CLOCKDIVISION_DIV1; htim1.Init.RepetitionCounter = 0;I really need your helps.Maybe i am missing

Posted on December 11, 2016 at 11:25HI All,I am wondering why initial code size differs with a factor of 3 between the STM32F031K6 and the STM32L031K6 - just for making an LED blink.I use CubeMx to generate the project and GCC (OpenSTM32 AC6 IDE) to compile it. In CubeMX I select the Nucleo-F031K6 and the Nucleo-L031K6 and click the 'Initialize all peripherals with their default mode'. Then I leave everything as default, just enough to make the LD3 blink (PB3).Compiling the project without any modification gives me the following code size:== STM32L031K6 ==arm-none-eabi-size 'TEST-L0.elf' text data bss dec hex filename 12504 12 1684 14200 3778 TEST-L0.elf== STM32F031K6 ==arm-none-eabi-size 'TEST-F0.elf' text data bss dec hex filename 4536 12 1684 6232 1858 TEST-F0.elf== Question ==Why this huge difference in code size between the L0 (12,5 KB) and the F0 (4,5 KB) ?Kind regardsAnders

Posted on December 14, 2016 at 00:57I see that SystemClock_Config(void) is generated, and shows the PLL divisions but it doesn't show anything about the actual clock speeds. Posted on December 13, 2016 at 19:27I am trying to implement such an algorithm on Stm32f4-discovery: Initialize the DMA and Tripple-ADC in the interleaved mode on the same channelWait for an external interruptSuspend the DMA and ADCsSend the buffered data through USARTResume DMA and ADCsClear interrupt flag, goto 2The DMA is working in circular mode, not burst, direct mode, peripheral (ADC) to memory, single memory address, second DMA mode (waiting for two measurements, sending a uint32_t to memory). The problem is that DMA (or ADCs?) does not always restart after suspending. In about 16% of cases DMA NDTR register keeps being stuck at buffer_size - 2 (so it has written just one measurement and stopped) after the interrupt until the next external interrupt, where it is suspended and restarted again.I've tried suspending DMA just like the Reference manual says:In order to restart from the point where the transfer was stopped, the software has to read the DMA_SxNDTR register after disabl
