Solved

Posted on February 05, 2018 at 14:13       Hello, I got a problem with my light dimmer pet project using ST's snubberless triac, T435-800T. It's working fine (turning on and off based on the control input) with the positive going half cycle of AC main. But during negative going half cycle, I found a strange behavior. Traic failed to turn off  during the negative going half cycle of AC main. I tried two separate rated incandescent lamp as a load. One rated at 25 W and another 60 W. What I found are, for 25 W lamp, turning off of Triac during negative half cycle not working at random intervals (please find the attachment) and for 60 W lamp, there is no turning off of Triac during negative going pulse. Please be noted that I checked control signal for both cased, and controller producing exact signal as the positive going half cycle. Can you please share your experience if I got same problem earlier? Do I need a Triac with higher Irms (on-state) value to overcome

Posted on February 08, 2018 at 12:56Dear,I am firstime testing MAT/TARGET. I have created small model in simuling and generated source codes throught CubeMX. HW board Nucleo F303RE is used and System Workbench development SW. Source codes from Matlab are succesfully process in CubeMX and project for System Workbanch was create. But compilation of generated source codes consist several problems.MATLAB 2017b, cubeMX 4.23 are used.Simulink model name I uses is Nucleo_test.slxIn main.c file there is code line:extern const ;but the datatype RT_MODEL_Nucleo_test is unknown. I checked all generated files but this datatype doesnot exist in any of files. There is only similar in Nucleo_test.htypedef struct ;Other probles I have are conflict types for rtM.simulink model, CubeMX ioc file, matlab generated sourcecodes and System workbanch project are attached in zipped file.Does somebody have some idea what is wrong and what should be done?Martin#simulink #stm32-mat/target-matlab

Posted on February 13, 2018 at 16:25I have a project for STM32F446 generated by CubeMX.After changing some pins and re-generated the code, it builds successfully but the debugger settings in the uvoptx file are broken: Keil's debugger cannot connect and shows 'unknown target' in debugger settings. But it sees the ST-Link dongle and its serial number. The solution for me was to restore the uvoptx file from backup. It may be caused by the recent CubeMX update (4.24) or not, I'm not sure.Another suspicious thing after CubeMX update is that it inserts spaces between components of include path in Keil project (uvprojx). But Keil does not mind...Hope this may help to others with the debugger issue, I've lost a lot of time today checking all cables, boards etc.Regards,-- pa#cubemx-4.24 #keil-uvision

Posted on February 16, 2018 at 19:22The clock diagram in RM0316 for the 32F303K8 indicates a clock selection mux off the APBx prescalers. I've searched the registers and cannot find the register used to select one of 4 clock inputs. The 4 possible inputs are the LSE, HSI, SYSCLK, or the clock off the APBx prescaler. The outpu tis to the usuart. Can someone point me to the register. Thanks...Randy

Posted on February 13, 2018 at 09:34Hello,I built a project, based on STM32F103, that uses the HAL libraries, CMSIS-FreeRtos and Middleware for STM32_ BlueNRG.This is a commercial project and I want to understand the term of license associated to each module in order to sell my hardware without pay fees.I found this document http://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/legal/legal_agreement/license_agreement/group0/45/a8/70/72/ac/0c/4d/4d/DM00268556/files/DM00268556.pdf/jcr:content/translations/en.DM00268556.pdf on the ST website, but I don't know if the document contents are applicable to every ST software component.Could someone explain me the license type adopted by ST ( Hal and BlueNRG) ,ARM ( Cmsis ) and FreeRTOS.Thanks in advance!#stm32-license #cmsis-rtos #commercial

Posted on February 08, 2018 at 11:55Hello Everyone,   I am working on SPC560C50L3 controller and using UDE STK 4.8 software for loading the firmware. I wanted to enable censorship. After going through the community I was able to get a code to erase shadow flash an enable censorship from below link.https://community.st.com/0D50X00009XkXR7SANI took the SPC560BCxx_RLA Flash Test Application from SPC5 Studio which runs from RAM. I commented CFlash and DFlash testing part along with the Shadow flash locking from the above code. Then I copied the code for enabling the censorship from the above link and build it. Then using the JTAG and UDE STK 4.8 I loaded the code to my MCU step by step using the Debug option. After power on reset, my MCU is running my application code (not the example). But I am not able to update new firmware because JTAG is not connecting to target.Message from component 'PpcJtagTargIntf' :Can't connect target !Mess

Posted on February 16, 2018 at 11:38I am trying to understand what 'sim()' does in the example code that comes on the STM8L-DISCOVERY eval board (Introduction to STM8L15x power saving modes using the STM8L-DISCOVERY IDD measurement feature) where the source can be downloaded from http://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/products/embedded-software/mcus-embedded-software/stm8-embedded-software/stsw-stm8009.htmlIn the Project/Discover/src/icc_measure.c file in function ADC_Icc_Test it runs 'sim()' and I cannot find a definition anywhere what this function does - example: /* Low power mode */ case MCU_LPR: Halt_Init(); sim(); /* To prepare to start counter */ GPIO_HIGH(CTN_GPIO_PORT,CTN_CNTEN_GPIO_PIN); /* To configure Low Power */ LPR_init(); break;I guess this must be some built-in C function as I can't find it in any of the source or Library files, but I can't find definition on GoogleThanksMike#stm8l-discovery #sim #stm8 #stm8l

Posted on February 15, 2018 at 06:41The microcontroller we are working on is STM32F303CC.  Lets say you have large project with multiple threads and peripherals attached to the system ? How can we determine the maximum CSTACK and HEAP value for microcontroller , So we can achieve system stability and avoid run time crashes and system instability.  PS: I am new Embedded world, I am Sorry if this question has been asked before. Love the ST ecosystem. CubeMX makes life easier for beginners.   #stack-overflow #cstack #address #heap #out-of-range

Posted on March 12, 2017 at 17:12Hi. I have an STM32F746 Discovery board purchased late last year from Digi-Key. It uses a STM32F746NG chip. I have not found any documentation anywhere that defines which revision of the Cortex M-7 core it uses. I am programing using FreeRTOS and its portability layer has a port.c function for the CM-7 core revision r0p1. I see the latest (but still dated 2015) ARMCortex-M7 Processor Technical Reference Manual  is Revision r1p0 which presumably is later than revision r0p1.How do I find out what revision the core is in any particular STM ARM chip? Thanks.

Posted on October 06, 2017 at 21:42I know the counter register read is not very reliable:Bits 15:0 CNT: Counter valueWhen the LPTIM is running with an asynchronous clock, reading the LPTIM_CNT register mayreturn unreliable values. So in this case it is necessary to perform two consecutive read accessesand verify that the two returned values are identical. It should be noted that for a reliable LPTIM_CNT register read access, two consecutive readaccesses must be performed and compared. A read access can be considered reliable when thevalues of the two consecutive read accesses are equal. But how many reads is normal?I tried to find the 'edge' by:uint32_t read_count(){    uint32_t tmp1, tmp2;    tmp1 = HAL_LPTIM_ReadCounter(&hlptim1); // hlptim1 is a global variable    while ((tmp2 = HAL_LPTIM_ReadCounter(&hlptim1)) != tmp1) tmp1 = tmp2;    return tmp1;}uint32_t poll_count_change(){    uint32_t tmp; &n

Posted on February 14, 2018 at 13:35Hi,I am currently using the STM32F769I-EVAL MB1219 Rev B board. I wanted to boot the MCU in the DFU bootloader mode, and as the manual suggests I removed the 0 Ohm resistor R124. I also set SW1 to `1`.This looks like activated the DFU bootloader since it activates some traffic on the USB bus, but the board does not enumerate properly and appears as unknown USB device on my PC.Reading the options bytes, which should be fine, I got: Could you please suggest a workaround to overcome the USB enumeration problem? probably I am missed something? Many thanks,Aymen

Posted on February 13, 2018 at 08:34Hi All.We have been trying to set up CAN-communication, and have been unsuccessful so far.So, we are wishing to proceed in baby-steps.As a first step, we intend to get the sending-CAN-packet working.Firstly, is it possible to get it working with just one node on the CAN-bus?Right now, with one board + one controller + one transceiver + one level-shifter,  we receive timeout while doing HAL_CAN_Transmit. I can present more details, but I would be grateful for an answer to the following question first ::Is it possible to have HAL_CAN_Transmit working without any timeout,  with just one node (the transmitting node itself) on the CAN-bus? Thanks and Regards,Ajay

Posted on February 13, 2018 at 16:02 I wonder if I can delete the call to EXTI_GetITStatus() in the following example code? TheEXTI0_IRQHandler is not used for any other external interrupts. So thecall to EXTI_GetITStatus() seems unnecessary? /** * @brief ISR for EXTI0 detects a rising edge. * * This ISR is run when PE0 receives an rising edge. It will increment the counter variable. */ void EXTI0_IRQHandler(void) { if (EXTI_GetITStatus(EXTI_Line0) != RESET) // Make sure it is an External interrupt line 0 interrupt { counter++; EXTI_ClearITPendingBit(EXTI_Line0); // Clear the pending bit } }????????????? #stm32

Posted on February 13, 2018 at 16:26Hi, We are planning to use STM32H753xI in our design. We should prepare Architectural Block diagram of the Board. To do that we need to know the Pin multiplexing details of the device and accordingly plan the Interfaces in the architecture. Can you please provide the Pin multiplexing details in the form of Excel sheet or any software through which we can easily select one of  the Options out of the available Multiplexing. Posted on March 15, 2017 at 16:00Thank you for your patronage. I am Japanese and a beginner of STM32.I am using STM32F3348-Discovery Board to study BuckBoost algorithm. Is there STM32CubeMX file(.ioc) in the STM32Cube example? STM32Cube MX is very useful. So I want to change STM32Cube example configuration with STM32Cube MX.#stm32cubemx #.ioc

Posted on February 12, 2018 at 06:04Hi,I'm using BLUENRG-MS (SPBTLE-RF) module for a low power BLE application. I'm having issues with pushing updates from the module to a mobile device.Issue:The BLE H/W is acting as a peripheral device and a mobile is acting as a central device.Characteristic size is 93 bytes. When a read is triggered from the mobile device, full 93 bytes is received. If I subscribe for change notifications from the mobile device, and update the characteristic data on the peripheral, only the first 20 bytes are received at the mobile device. Why is the update limited to 20 bytes ?Is there a way to increase the update buffer size ?I've been searching the internet and looking at STM documentation but couldn't find a reasonable explanation for this. Not even for the 20 byte limit. Can you point me towards the correct documentation.Test H/W:  X-NUCLEO-IDB05A1 on a NUCLEO-L496ZG-PIDB05A1 F/W: 7.2.c (0x723)BLE Stack:  BLUENRG V3.0.0 running on L496Thanks,Asela.#x-nuc
