STM Virtual Comm Port (VCP) driver slow on Windows 7

I have an STM32F4 device that uses the USB peripheral and CDC driver.

I have a portable python app that communicates with the STM32F4 from Mac OS X 10.13 (High Sierra), Win10 and Win7.

On Mac and Win10 the app communicates with good speed, however on Win7 the comms is x10 slower !!

The driver in device manager says v1.3.1. So I uninstalled that and installed v1.5.0 (from ST website). I tried installing the Win7 64-bit driver via Windows Explorer and the Command Prompt. Add/Remove Programs shows 1.5.0 is installed, but Device Manager => Properties => Driver always shows the version as 1.3.1.0, 25/04/2010.

So is 1.5.0 installed and loaded or not ???

Why can't Win7 talk to my device at the same rate as Win10?

I tried setting the driver settings to 115000, 8N1, with and without FIFO enabled, but nothing seems to make any difference. Yes, I've rebooted multiple times too.

It can't be the device works fine with connected to Mac or Win10.

Any ideas how to resolve this ??

Many thanks,

Brendan.
