If a timeout occurs from "SDMMC_CmdOpCondition" (error #4) the calling function, "MMC_PowerON", returns "HAL_MMC_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_FEATURE".
Is this correct?

I had the same issue as you, I don't understand why there is no suggestion from ST for this topic yet.

That's how forums often work, ST doesn't have a heavy presence here, and you're reliant of others with the same combination of hardware or ability to debug/diagnose.
Might be card specific, or a board related.

I have the same issue in STM32L476G when trying an eMMC connected via microSD to eMMC adapter. Were you able to find a fix for this problem?

I have same error occuring in the initialization code on my STM32F769-EVAL board!
I do have the SD card that came with the eval board plugged in properly. Maybe there's some jumper setting, i'll check it out.

I just looked at the eval board manual. Looks like I have to make some solder modification and change a jumper to allow the SD cards to work, since some pins are shared with the camera. You might have the same issue.
