STM32CubeIDE 1.15.0: elf has a LOAD segment with RWX permissions

Hi @Imen.D  , @Khouloud ZEMMELI ,

After updating the STM32CubeIDE to version 1.15.0 (today) I am observing below warning.

The LD file has not changed. It has RAM and MRAM RWX

Hi @bruno_b2s ,

I think the problem appears because of the GCC update.

I generated a new project in STM32CubeIDE to check if there is also a warning. But there wasn't one, so I compared the files with my old project. There are also comments in the newly generated *.ld-file witch explain the problem a little bit:

I get this too. This is complicated. But v15 is brain-dead anyway, so I reverted to 1.14.1 and everything is perfect. :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

To remove that warning just add "--no-warn-rwx-segments" and "--no-warn-execstack" to the linker flags under "Miscellaneous" tab.

This is complete hell.

Where exactly is this file?   Is there one for ever single MCU I use?

Who in the hell came up with this idea?

This solution does not solve the issue entirely in my case, because I had 2 identical warnings before putting the READONLY keyword and now there is still one warning left. I also tried removing the ld script and regenerating the project. That warning is still there so I guess it might be due to something else.

On top of that, the generated code with size optimization active generates a binary which crashes at some point for no reason and there is no way to debug. I had to revert back to v1.14.1 because v1.15 appears to have serious issues.

By the way,  after have regenerated the project. The new .ld file is the following, but the warning persists.

Where in the .ld file did you put it?

I also had this problem, your solution works perfectly.

I was not sure what the linker script file was called so for anyone else the file is located near the bottom of the list of files and folders in a project and will have a name something like: STM32F103C8TX_FLASH.ld, there may be other *.ld files so be careful not to edit the wrong one.
