Using the ST provided altium design files for the STM32MP157A-DK1, I've run the design rule check on the PCB as default which shows about 400 violations. Are the design rules set up correctly for this project or am I doing something incorrectly?
I'd like to use the PCB file as the base for my project but would like the design rules to be correct before continuing.
Thanks

Hi, I'm not specialist of PCB, but seems such violations are usual and are checked if important of not by PCB expert during board routing.
I think most design rules are provided by PCB manufacturer.
One example of violation is components which are going out of the board edge, which is in fact normal for many connectors such as USB or RJ45.
If this is an issue for you, I assume you could enhance your design rules to cover all cases.

If the project didn't include its own design rules you are probably using your Altium defaults - the rules will be different for each PCB manufacturer and indeed the type of PCB you are ordering from them.
JLCPCB have different rules for 4-layer and 2-layer boards, higher spec PCB houses can make almost anything you ask but it will cost you extra, so you set your rules to suit what they tell you.
