1. Does the STM32MP157D-DK1 board have 3.0 USB ports? Does the USB C connector have USB 3.0 capabilities?
2. If no to the questions above, what STM32MP board should we use if we want to have USB 3.0 capabilities?

Hi, @potatobandit

As USB 3.0 is a wide standard, I assume you are talking about SuperSpeed capabilities.

The STM32MP1 series are limited to USB high-Speed (480 Mbits/s).

The newer STM32MP25x lines supports Superspeed (5Gbits/s).

The STM32MP257F-DK board will support USB 3.0 Type-C SuperSpeed 5 Gbits/s (the board also support Power Delivery).

Complete board documentation is available here: https://www.st.com/en/evaluation-tools/stm32mp257f-dk.html

Getting started (and much more) is available on wiki: https://wiki.st.com/stm32mpu/wiki/Getting_started/STM32MP2_boards/STM32MP257x-DK

This board will start to be available at usual distributor in few weeks.

Regards.

The MP2 boards are all out of stock. Do you have any estimates for when they will be back in stock?

Hi @potatobandit

as mentioned above, first public batch of STM32MP257F-DK will be available in few weeks.

Stay in touch on https://www.st.com/en/evaluation-tools/stm32mp257f-dk.html#sample-buy.

Hello @PatrickF

Our team is looking into ordering the MP2 boards, now that they are in stock. We specifically need to test out support for USB 3.0 SuperSpeed.
You mentioned above that the STM32MP25x line supports superspeed, but we are seeing a discrepancy between the eval and the discovery kit.

Does the STM32MP257F-EV1 have support for the USB 3.0 Superspeed or is this functionality only available on the STM32MP257F-DK?
STM32MP257F-EV1 - eStore - STMicroelectronics

Data brief - STM32MP257F-DK - Discovery kit with STM32MP257F MPU

Thank you for your help

This is also a discrepancy between the data brief and user manual for the Discovery kit. Section 8.2 of the user manual specifies high speed, whereas the data brief mentions super speed.

Hi @potatobandit

thanks for pointing out this discrepancy, I will inform the team.

I confirm that only STM32MP257F-DK supports USB Type-C SuperSpeed (5Gbits/s).

The STM32MP257F-EV is only USB Type-C High-Speed as the 5Gbit/s PHY is used for Mini-PCIe on that board.

Thank you so much for confirming the support. I'll advice my team to get the Discover kit.
