Hi
We are using the STM32 in a project and want to use a bluetooth module . I see there are many certified modules out there , but if I use any in a project (even though I dont modify the module at all ), I have to pay for a bluetooth certification. It doesnt make sense using it in a smaller project if a license has to be paid , if I dont put the logo on the brand, do I still have to pay for it? Im sure many people have come across the same issue
Many thanks
Scott

As @Peter BENSCH says there, this is nothing to do with ST - it's what the BT SIG defines.

AIUI, you're also not allowed to call it "Bluetooth"

Try to ask your favorite AI (Copilot, Chatgpt...) something like "I need pre-certified Bluetooth Low energy (BLE) module that I can build into my product, without having to certify it for Bluetooth". I don't quote the reply because it contains names of 3rd party products ))
But finally it says: "while the module itself is pre-certified, the final product might still need to go through some form of certification, depending on the regulations in your region". So, depending on your location or market for your product, you need at least to consult with a professional.
