hello,
I am working on a project where I need to display a Touch GFX frame buffer on an OLED display that supports only 8-bit data transfers. The Touch GFX frame buffer is in RGB565 format (16-bit), while the OLED expects 8-bit data chunks for communication over SPI. I'm using an STM32 microcontroller and an SSD1333 display controller.
My setup.
- Microcontroller: STM32L4 series
- Display: OLED with SSD1333 controller (RGB565, 8-bit transfer)
- Framebuffer: 16-bit RGB565 from Touch GFX
- Communication: SPI
How can I split or convert the 16-bit RGB565 frame buffer data from Touch GFX into 8-bit chunks to properly send it to the OLED using SPI? Is there a specific function or method in Touch GFX that facilitates this kind of transformation?

Can you compare the bytes being send by the driver compared to what is being send now?
Then we know what needs to be changed.

Spi data transfer is of 8 bits, if i pass 16 bit value, the image is getting mess up, touch frame buffer is also return 16 bit array ,.. Because i set color depth to RGB 565,
If get touch gfx buffer in terms of uint8_t i think my problem will get sorted

The MCU is little endian. So typecasted as uint8 array will be LSB first.

No. That wouldn't matter. The color bits are in a different format.
You can also change the display buffer in the debugger. All 1's is white, all 0's is black. You can quickly see the format of the color bits.

We already gave you several ways to solve it:
- read the documentation to find out the bitformat of your framebuffer and display
- inspect the arrays being send in code and compare them to find out the bitformat of your framebuffer and display
- inspect the arrays being send with a logic analyzer and compare them to find out the bitformat of your framebuffer and display
- modify frame buffer data with debugger and see how it changes the colors on your display to find the bitformat of your display
Once you know the right format you know what modification you need to make. If you just need to change endianness (byte swap) you can use the link that was shared earlier.
