What is the cause of STM32 shortage? When will STM32 processors be available as normal? The pricing and delivery times are ridiclous now.

Oh, and this is the 32-bits for 32-cents one.

JW

it was 32 cent.

IMO it never was, maybe except an initial campaign.

[EDIT] A friend just confirmed that he indeed purchased a relatively small quantity of the 'F030F4 at 32(euro)cents apiece soon after they were introduced.

I doubt 1/1/27 is accurate. More likely they just don't know when and don't care to guess.

Digikey lead time for that is posted as 52 weeks.

Mouser reports 53 weeks and is waiting on their order of 180,994 to come in.

Possible.

But "Awaiting Delivery By <Date>" sounds like a confirmed delivery date.

And it more and more sounds like we need to design in alternatives to STM32's who do not have shortages.

Is ST currently manufacturing any processors? If yes what is the first available ones that could be a drop in for STM32F303RBT6/7?

Check availability in octoparts, and if there are any annoucement, it will come with initial stock to grab.

some projects may be re-designed to use other series. I had one already this year, replaced f4 with old stock f103. And STM32 HAL and CubeIDE was a great help for this task, PCB layout changed only in two places, like removing vcap, and some minor changes. Replaced floats with q15/int16.
