Hi,
I am getting ''Fatal error:ST-Link USB Communication error'' message while my code still runs on board and this is happening when driver is running for longer time. Thanks in advance.2012-12-21 02:41 AM
And else ?
You mean a Discovery board with integrated ST-Link ? Check the USB cabling and connection, and what else you probably have attached to the board. You might have reached the limits of the onboard power supply.2012-12-21 03:46 AM
I am using STM32-P152 board and able to flash my code with JTAG , it runs fine i.e able to debug the code in IDE for first 4/5 hours but after that I am getting following Message Boxes:
My IDE is showing following message box:Fatal error: ST-Link USB communication error.Session aborted!.Windows 7 message box:The device ''SGS Thomson STM32 STLink'' was unable to connect to its ideal host controller. An attempt will be made to connect to this device to the best available host controller. This might result in undefined behavior for this device.2012-12-21 04:14 AM
I didn't come across such a problem yet.
From the description of the symptoms, it's not clear if the host or the JTAG adapter is bailing out. However, from the long delay, I would suspect some thermal issue. Do you supply the target from the debug adapter ? Have you tried another PC ?2012-12-21 04:43 AM
No, it has external power supply and I am running windows 7 in vmware.
I didn't try in another PC yet, will try testing in another machine.2012-12-21 06:54 AM
No, it has external power supply and I am running windows 7 in vmware.
Another possible source of trouble ... I don't put my toolchains in virtual machines. Maybe someone else has experience with that.

No, it has external power supply
And what voltage is that outputting? Is it a regulated supply, or something pushing out 7-8V?2012-12-23 09:30 PM
Hi clive1
Sorry for the late reply.yes it is a regulated supply and output voltage is 5V (max supported by board is 6V).2012-12-27 04:20 AM
Hi fm,
Just tried in another machine but not in vmware. It is working fine.It looks like vmware problem , have seen same kind of problem(The device x was unable to connect to its ideal host controller) with vmware in some forums.
