Vertical Take off in STEVAL FCU001

mmdave1

Hi All,

I am beginner to drones. We assembled one drone using STEVAL FCU. 002. board ,  recommended set. of motors and. propellers along with battery.

We Chose different. frame.  than. one recommended . It is smaller in size.

While flying , vertical take. off. could. not be achieved.

Can someone guide please ?

Motor connections , Clock wise. ,  anti clock wise in reference. to alignment. of. the boards are checked. already.

It is ST board. so. come equipped with all driver , frimware etc.

Thanks in advance.

Early and accurate response is. appreciated.

Regards,

Albeit,  if  your comment was  for ready made frame,  we already got  one 3D printed using STL file  from ST. If it still gives trouble  , than we  will go with ready made supplied by ST.

One  more observation..

In help  section, There is mention  of  VERTICAL TAKE OFF and VERTICAL LANDING button in ST_BLE_DRONE application.

But in App GUI , we could not find any of  them.

Now, we have got the frame as recommended by ST.

And we  will assemble using that.

I doubt  that without VERTICAL TAKE OFF  button , how  it  will gain an altitude lift.

Regards,

Dear All,

I want to reopen this case. Post last interactions, we got frame as per  design of ST ( STL file for  3D printing ) and  used the same  to reassemble the  drone.

Unfortunately  , result is not  achieved.

Drone does not take  off even  up to 1 feet and flies in unpredictable directions.

No  clear control on flight of drone.

We fail to identify even right area of problem.

Request  you people to suggest steps for troubleshooting.

Regards,

Madhu  Dave

You can unmark the solution:

So you didn't use an actual frame supplied by ST ?

And you haven't answered @Peter BENSCH's question: "which propeller with which tilt did you use where?"

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

Hi Andrew,

I  have updated in between .And propellers  and  motors are again the ones recommended by ST.

Please see below  link for details on that.

https://robu.in/product/65mm-blade-propeller-prop-8520-cw-ccw-coreless-brushed-motor-indoor-racing-drone-quad-copter/

Now, we are ordering the frame from ST ( original one by ST ).

Besides that , can you please  help getting answers to below  doubts :

1. Whether ST_BLE_DRONE app is the right tool to  control the drone or  shall we order  REMOCON handheld remote  unit to control  the  drone ?

2. In ST_BLE_DRONE app , we could not  find Vertical take Off button where as in the HELP section of  the application , we  can observe the reference in this regard .

3.  Is  there any proper user  operation guide for ST_BLE_DRONE application ? We  may be making mistake even on how to fly  the drone .

That still doesn't answer @Peter BENSCH's question!

Ok... We have ordered original frame getting supplied by ST. And we will check.

Regarding propeller , we could get only length of it . Tilt angel is not provided  even in supplier's data sheet.

Hope , I am not missing any  question which I shall answer.

We also have the same problem.

We are making a FCU based on STEVAL-FCU001V2 as a study project. We originally ordered the STVEAL-FCU001V2 via digikey from this link: "https://www.digikey.in/en/products/detail/stmicroelectronics/STEVAL-FCU001V2/22522577", 3D printed the STDRONE002 frame and ordered the 8520 motors and 65mm propellers from this link: "https://robu.in/product/65mm-blade-propeller-prop-8520-cw-ccw-coreless-brushed-motor-indoor-racing-drone-quad-copter/". We are using the exact battery that ST recommended "3.7v 600mAh and 25C discharge rating" purchased from this link: "https://robu.in/product/bonka-3-7v-600mah-25c-1s-lithium-polymer-battery-pack/". But to no extent did it even took off. And in the rare cases that our drone took off, it spined rapidly in the yaw axis.

Any help would be appreciated.
