TSC: STM32U031R8T6 LEDs "near" Touch Sensors

SWJ
Visitor

New design in WIP.   App note shows to Capacitor decoupling LEDs near touch sensors.  Doesn't really define how close is "too close" to need them though, or why, or if it's primarily for LED outputs that are still part of that particular touch group.  22LEDs total.  My furthest LEDs are .6" from a sensor edge, but most LEDs are .3" from any sensor edge and most sensors have multiple LEDs .3" away.  8 total touch sensors.  They are about .4" diameter.  Decouple them all still?  seems a little overkill and I've never had to do that with Cypress capsense LEDs even when they were in the middle of a sensor.

Also, sensors will be springs or conductive foam.  I'm adding the shield to the design, but I think we don't need it because my hatch partial fill will be on the board, but the sensor will be touched over 1/4" away, through glass, and air gaps around every sensor.  Recommend the shield anyway or still?

Thank You! SWJ
