Hello,

I am about to finish my proto PCB and hopefully move from Apha to Beta stage.

Also making a PCB is a new thing for me, it came to me yesterday that the LQFP100

package requires some 5mil clearance and quick search for pcb makers showed that

the minimum they support is like 6mil. Who do you guys use for prototyping (UK) ?

LQFP100 is pretty run-of-the mill these days - no decent (or even semi-decent) PCB company should have any problem whatsoever with that!!

''Also making a PCB is a new thing for me''

Then I strongly suggest that you discuss your proposed design with a competent PCB designer!

PCB design is

not

 a trivial exercise!

Hehe,

That is funny. My board is ready anyway, and is not going to fit on the next Mars rover,

so no worry. When i start using 400 balls BGA packages and 2 Gbps 128 bit buses, will

seriously think about your suggestion to employ a 'competent designer' ;)

Thanks for the links!

Spacing between leads is e - b on the package diagram. Values are 0.0197-0.0087 inches = 11 mils, well within the capability of any PCB house I am familiar with.

Hi Hal,

Thanks for the input.

Yes, it seems to be 11mil from the pdf.But i am using footprint from AT91SAM7X256 we used on a old PCB project. I compared the package dimensions on both chips and they seems to be the same. And my grid is set to 10 mil, the spacing is clearly lower than 10 mil. So there is something wrong. The old project also uses 5mil clearance.
