The description of the on and off pins is not complete.
What happens if both are active at the same time?
Does one pin have higher priority than the other?
Is it possible to turn the device on/off just using one of the pins letting the other one unconnected?
Is the signal latched (after debounce time)?

This is not determined and should be avoided. - Does one pin have higher priority than the other?

No. - Is the signal latched (after debounce time)?
The question is not entirely clear, but perhaps this will help: after one of the inputs (OFF, ON) has been activated, the VIPER0P retains this status even if this input is enabled again.

Hi Peter,
ok, I think I can manage with that description.
What happens when the Viper0P is first powered (VCC > VCC startup)?
Will it start switching in active mode or startup in ZPM mode and wait for an ON signal?

When switching on, the VIPer0P always starts in normal operating mode, i.e. it can then be switched off with OFF. This behavior is described in the data sheet in section 5.11:
[..] If the device is disconnected from the mains or there is a mains interruption while in ZPM, the information in the logic is lost. When the input source is applied again, the IC will be restarted in normal mode. [...]

Embarrassing, how did I not see that. Thank you for your response.
I think I have enough for deciding that I can actually use this device, which is great.
For the actual design though, I have not found anything about calculating the compensation network components?

You can simulate your design in the free-of-charge on-line simulator eDesignSuite, which also provides the compensation components.
