M24256-DRMF3TG/K Footprint

What is the recommended footprint for this device?

The TN1171 technical note is next to useless, so please don't direct me there.

What is the width of this pad please, as I cannot decipher your data sheet for this information 0693W00000aJqpwQAC.jpg

Frankly, I'm a little disappointed this information is so confusing and hard to extrapolate.

In the meantime, we have found out that there is a footprint, but it has not yet been inserted in the data sheet. Presumably it will find its way there in one of the next revisions.

It is important to note, however, that such footprints are suggestions, not mandatory requirements. Depending on your local conditions and your process technology, the footprint to be used may well differ. STMicroelectronics guarantees for the devices, not the footprints.

You will find the suggested footprint e.g. in the data sheet of another EEPROM in exactly the same package - the M24C32-A125.

Welcome, @TScot.3, to the community!

Well, there is indeed no recommended footprint because it also depends on the process. TN1171 gives some information on how to design perimeter and central pad in sections 5 and 6.

We are very sorry that it might not be so easy to interpret the technical drawing: both in the data sheet and in TN1171 the width of a pad is indicated with the lower case letter "b", in the table below "b" is listed as 0.25mm±0.05mm. The capital letters "NX" stand for the number of pins of the device.

Hope that answers your question?

Regards

/Peter
