So the question is not about an alternative in a smaller enclosure, but about general alternatives due to the current worldwide shortage of components: unfortunately, there is no alternative in the same or compatible package in this power class, only the STTH812 could come into question, but it is only available in larger packages like the thru-hole TO-220AC or the D2PAK. Of course, there are also other devices with an even higher current capability and therefore a much larger package.
Good luck!

Welcome, @RKurd.1, to the community!
The STTH512 is not Discontinued, but Active, which is why I moved it to the Analogue and Audio and Power Management channels.
Regarding your question: the performance (current, power dissipation) of an STTH512B-TR cannot be achieved in the package SOD132 aka SMB, because it is much too small for that. This is already apparent from the dimensions, but also from the thermal resistance. Please multiply the maximum voltage drop with the maximum current and the thermal resistance, then you will see the resulting temperature increase that SMB can no longer handle.
Does it answer your question?

Yes,
The STTH512B-TR seems to be a popular part and is hard to source. Is there another drop in replacement that is similar or better?
