Hi,
I am working with evaluation board (STEVAL-IDW001V1) equipped with the WiFi module (SPWF01SA.11), and having trouble with updating the firmware (FW) to the board. I followed the instructions to have BOOT0 high during power up and then pressing RESET (SW1), but the board doesn't respond with a ready message on my terminal software. In addition, I have tried a few troubleshooting options with the factory FW. I currently have a USB to UART bridge (UB232R) to try and send AT commands after the Eval Board gives the follow messages: +WIND:1:Poweron (140128-caf4b79-SPWF01S) +WIND:13:ST SPWF01SA1 IWM: Copyright (c) 2012-2014 STMicroelectronics, Inc. However, the evaluation board does not respond toany

Hi,
it seems like you are not moving RX line of the module, since you are able to see messages (TX is ok!), but you are not able to send AT-cmds. Please check your external USB2UART device: for example, close TX line over RX line, and check that what you are sending comes back.2014-11-21 02:16 PM
Agreed, it sounds like your AT commands are not being received by the module.

I checked the TX for my bridge with an oscope and the test you suggested, however, no response from the WiFi module. I have double checked connections many times, as well as, others double check my connections. Do you think I have a broke module?

Honestly, it's difficult for me to think about a broken module this way. I mean, since TX is working, and IDW is tested before releasing it, an HW issue seems not reasonable. Anyway, if you think about it, please contact your local ST support, and ask for another IDW.
Just to be sure... you are using 3 wires for communication: 1 - module TX (J5, pin1) to external bridge RX - this should be ok! 2 - module RX (J5, pin2) to external bridge TX - this should be ''broken'' 3 - GND (J5, pin4) confirm?2014-11-22 01:21 PM

I you have no ST guy reference, I'll try to find him. Where are you from? I don't know if it's good for you, but youcan use one of the board (USB dongle) in attach. It's directly connected over IDW J5. I tried calling the two sites in California (U.S.), but the only response is infinite loop of dialing. Would you please find me a reference?
In addition, my ticket submitted online does not seem to be getting any response either. The UB232R is receiving and transmitting data. I have connected these lines about 5 times now, which 3 of these events was under peer-supervision. I am almost certain that the WiFi module is having hardware issues.
