RTC Timer issues using LSE on BlueNRG-LP-DK May 2022 vintage development boards

Back in May of 2022, I purchased a number of BlueNRG-LP-DK development boards (STEVAL-IDB011V2-C) for Bluetooth Low Energy development.  Things went fine (in a manner of speaking of course) .

Recently I tried to use these boards with its RTC (Real Time Clock) configured with the LSE (Low Speed external) / 32.768 KHz Oscillator and I simply could not get the RTC configured with the LSE Oscillator to work.   What I mean whenever I tried to configure the LSE/ 32.768 KHz Oscillator as the source for the RTC, it was as though the RTC had nothing hooked up to it.

Before anyone asks, I did use the Periph_Examples -> HAL -> RTC sample code provided by ST extensively and stepped through a lot of HAL code.

 

Here are my two (simple) questions

1) Was there anything peculiar about this particular batch/lot/vintage of BlueNRG-LP's regarding the RTC that anyone knows about?  Given I previously had hardware problems with the PDM microphone on that board vintage, I was wondering if the that there were additional issues that I could not find in the BlueNRG-LP-DK errata. 

2) As a follow up, has anyone heard of \ experienced similar RTC issues with the BlueNRG-LP rebranded STM2WB0x hardware?

The answer is no there is nothing wrong with this vintage of boards with regard to RTC using LSE source.  It seems to work fine though the HAL code was not tremendously straight forward or illustrative IMO.
