TSV912IQ2T absolute maximum input voltage

whabib

The following are some questions related to the absolute maximum ratings of the TSV912IQ2T which are not clear from the datasheet.

  1. Can the voltage on the input pins (2,3,5 and 6) swing to values greater than VCC + 0.2V (for example 50V) if the current is limited assuming there is a clamping diode to the supply pin?
  2.  In the datasheet, there is the statement " VCC - VIN must not exceed 6 V ". In the example mentioned, 3.3V (supply voltage) - 50V (on input) = -46.7V. It is assumed that this is ok since it does not exceed 6V. Is that correct?
  3. In case the answer to question 1 is Yes, what would be the current limit value ?

  1. No. The Absolute maximum ratings mention that the voltage applied to the input pins must not exceed VCC+0.2V. Your example of 50V is therefore not permitted. How you ensure that the voltage is limited to a maximum of 200mV above VCC is a matter for the developer.
  2. No. Since the input voltage must not exceed 3.5V at VCC=3.3V, your assumed 50V is not permissible. It may be a little confusing, but the VIN mentioned in footnote 3 does not refer to the maximum VIN, but the minimum, i.e. the largest difference between VIN and VCC.
  3. Not applicable.

Hope that answers your questions?
