Posted on May 19, 2018 at 15:23Hi All,I am new to STM32 family and need your suggestion on selecting a board which I can use to learn and understand USB host and USB device programming and firmware. One day into STM32, I understand that they have a single STM32cube software package which is all I need to evaluate any board/Micro based on STM32. hat is great as all BSP is clubbed together.I was looking at PIC earlier, but STM32 seems more well documented and organized. The board should have below features:- USB host support- USB device support- Ready to use examples for USB devices- If USB examples are FreeRTOS based then thats excellentCheers #usb-development #usb-stack

Posted on April 23, 2018 at 23:04Hi, I have a few questions about the use of the Android SDK for the ST24DV tags.1) readMailboxMessage(0,0) allways returns a first byte which is zero. This zero-first byte seems to come from the tag itself, but I did not find any reference in the datasheet.2) readMailboxMessage(0,1) where argument one is the mailbox adress, and argument two is the amount of bytes to read, never returns anything and the asyncrounous thread in which the function is calles terminates. Why is this?3) fastReadMailboxMessage() and fastWriteMailboxMessage sho the same behavoir as the function call in 2). Is it possible, that these fast operation modes are not supported by my hardware (Huawei Mate 7)?Any help would be very appreciated.Yours, Andreas#fastwritemailboxmessage #readmailboxmessage #first-byte #zero #st25dv #fastreadmailboxmessage

Posted on May 22, 2018 at 02:34Hi,    I am trying to write a flash memory location on an STM32L496 and I can't get it to work.  From reading the manual, I understand that each location can only be written once, and it must be erased before it can be rewritten.  Also, the smallest piece of memory that can be erased is a page, which is 2K on this MCU.  So, I have written some code that reads a copy page I want to write to into RAM, modifies the copy to the desired state, erases the page, then writes the new version to the page using the standard programming API.  This is not working.  The first write works, but the second is returning a HAL_ERROR.  What am I doing wrong?  Any advice is appreciated. I will include a code snippet:bool Nvm::Write(uint32_t destination, uint8_t* source, uint16_t length) { uint32_t start_page_index = GetPage(destination); uint32_t end_page_index = GetPage(destination + length); uint32_t page_start =

Posted on May 22, 2018 at 21:29Hi,Is there a way to generate a condition inside the initialization code generated by CubeMx in TrueSTUDIO?I want to do something like this inside the MX_SPI2_Init() :    if (HAL_GPIO_ReadPin(GPIOI, GPIO_PIN_11) == GPIO_PIN_SET) {            hSPI2.Init.Mode = SPI_MODE_SLAVE;    } else {            hSPI2.Init.Mode = SPI_MODE_MASTER;    }Currently, I can only have one or the other. Is it possible to do it with CubeMx or I should override the generated initialization code by hand?Thank you.#if-else #condition #init #cubemx

Posted on May 18, 2018 at 14:54Good morning,I am developing an application that uses STM32F3DISCO as board and FreeRTOS as OS. I want to keep some data in the RAM after some Software reset that I do under some conditions so I have used the notation__attribute__((section('.my_section')))near the variables I want to preserve. Moreover in the linker script I have added a section just after .data and before .bss.my_section (NOLOAD):  {    . = ALIGN(4);    _s_my_section = .;           *(.my_section)    . = ALIGN(4) ;    _e_my_section = .;   } > RAMNow, the application works correctly and the values are preserved but I want to understand more:when I do a reset pressing the button I get my values stored  -> OKwhen I do a power on reset values are more or less random -> OKTo put a 0 in those locations again I have to upload a program without that section defined...is the

Posted on May 20, 2018 at 19:36Hi, I'm fairly new both to ARM and to C programming, but I'm attempting to write a library to allow me to interface an STM32F103 with a hub-75 RGB LED panel. I know it's possible as I've seen similar projects, but I want to come up with my own code and learn by throwing myself in at the deep end. Predictably, I've gotten stuck fairly early on in the proceedings! As well as several other control lines, I need to be able to shift different bytes of data out to 6 pins simultaneously. Can anyone describe roughly how I could make this happen? I know I can send an individual byte to a port and have it output across 8 pins, but I need to be able to have 6 separate bytes and output each of them of a different pin simultaneously with a shared clock. Any ideas?Thanks,John#hub75

Posted on May 18, 2018 at 01:25Hi all,I find it curious that the code has been taken down. I mean unless it wasn't ST that had uploaded it in the first place. Can someone from ST explain the situation? I am one of the people that had forked the libraries because I thought it was a way to have latest changes.Thank you very much for your time,Sat#dmca #stm32-cube

Posted on May 11, 2018 at 00:27Hi everyone,I'm working with STm32L476RG on the example that I've downloaded from the St official site about the Ranging Satellites (with the expansion board 53L0A1). The problem is, when I try to generate the code with CubeMx for Iar version 8.22.2, the result is this error:'Error[Pe1696]: cannot open source file X-NUCLEO-53L0A1.h'I think this problem can occur if the IAR project has a different version that the project was made on.I tried the next procedure to add the missing file:Project -> Options -> C/C++ compiler -> Preprocessor and add the directories where the files can be found. But the problem is not solved, because there is a new similar error with an other missing file 'mxconstant'.How can I solve this problem?Thank you for attention and hoping that anyone can help me.#x-nucleo-53l0a1 #stm32l476rg #stm32-iar

Posted on May 18, 2018 at 16:09Hello, in these days I'm using for the first time Stm32CubeProgrammer and I notice a little problem in version 1.0.0: In the page 'Erasing & Programming' the button 'Browse', used to select the directory where find the .Hex to use in order to program the device doesn't work. Is there any new Softeware version or way to solve the issue?Thank youDamiano

Posted on May 11, 2018 at 02:48It seems that newest cubeMX (4.25.1) can not be install on macOS high sierra(10.13.3). Does any old version works? and please fix the issue of 4.25.1.

Posted on May 16, 2018 at 10:46Hello,I have STM32F7 discovery kit (Discovery kit with STM32F746NG MCU) . I have successfully tested microSDCard withKeil + STM32Cube able to Create/read/Write txt files.I have also through UM1721 'Developing Applications on STM32Cube with FatFs'STM32F746NG MCU has one only SDMMC interface .So I have selected STM32F722VET6 (LQFP-100 Pins) with two SDMMC Interfaces. My requirement is How I can access two microSDCard Simultaneously .I want to copy the data from one SDCard to another SDCard ( or SPI Flash Memory or USB MSD).1) How do I configure and access Multi-Drive Support with FatFS ( Different  volume name or numbers)  with STM32CubeMX ?2) Can I configure and access FATFS with SPI Interface on  any STM32 MCU with STM32Cube ?Thanks in advanceKaran

Posted on May 19, 2018 at 16:21So, I am using STM32F769xxx to run MIPI-DSI display. On the display's datasheet there are power on and off sequences. I am able to get display on and off (so commands are at least somewhat OK), but colors and data on layer are totally messed up. I have good lead on that (wrong configurations as the display normally runs on 4 lanes, MCU has only 2 lanes, I have asked manufacturer about this, they should get back to me soon), but just in case I was wondering about packet footers (checksums).Heres visual aid:So, here's what this looks on code://SETEXTC uint8_t pSETEXTC[4] = {0xB9, 0xFF, 0x83, 0x94}; HAL_DSI_LongWrite(&hdsi, 0x00, DSI_DCS_LONG_PKT_WRITE, 4, 0x3904002C, pSETEXTC);HAL_DSI_Refresh(&hdsi); //Is this necessary? How is that packet footer (PF) implemented on MCU? Do I need to calculate it manually and add two bytes of data at the end of pSETEXTC or does STMs DSI-interface do it for me? I read documents but it was not too clear abou

Posted on May 18, 2018 at 11:05Hi, I would like to use the SWIM port of STM8L001J3 to control an LED.Obviously the same port will also need to be used for debugging and programming.I ask if it is possible to connect the LED directly to the port or if is it better to use a MOS-N (2N7002) to avoid impedance problems?I attach the schematic of the solution with MOS-N.Thank you for your valuable feedback and suggestionsSisto#stm8l001j3-swim

Posted on May 19, 2018 at 06:04Hi !I am using STM32L4R7ZIT6-144 Pin LQFP Package on Keil-MDK, So far all other GPIO ports SET/REST test is normal except Port G with its associated SPI configuration which is neither getting SET nor RESET on push pull ,pull up mode. Although System viewer during debug mode in Keil -MDK showes normal set/reset toggle behavior for PG9/10/11/12 ports but output of the ports is not remains low and unchnaged.I have tested VDDIO supply at pin no 131 and 95 with respect to 130 and 94 which is 3.2V.We have tested it with three different hardware's and found the behavior same.Due to this we are unable to use SPI3 on either of these ports. Please advice! Thanks and Best Regards,VK Verma   ♯‌https://community.st.com/tags♯/?tags=stm32l4%2B‌#stm32l4r7zit6 #stm32l4+

Posted on May 17, 2018 at 00:50In AN4838 it states on page 7/16:The STM32F7 Series andSTM32H7 Series do not support hardware coherency. the S field is equivalent to non-cacheable memory.Aside from the typo, I find this information to be confusing.  Does this mean that in F/H7 series devices that the S bit determines the cache behavior and is inter changeable with the C bit?  Or is it ignored?  Or is the S field and the S bit two different things? Please clarify?

Posted on March 28, 2018 at 19:27When generating code using LL libraries for an STM32L011F4Ux MCU, I found that enabling DMA for USART2 RX and TX and selecting DMA channels 2 and 3 makes the Cube create non working code.I checked the RM for this MCU and at chapter 10.4.7 'DMA channel selection register (DMA_CSELR)' I saw that channels 2 and 3 are not the right ones for USART2.Anyway, the Cube lets you select the right channels (i.e. 4 and 5) and, with those, everything seems OK.Can you please check?Thanks,Andrea#stm32-cube #dma #stm32l011

Posted on May 17, 2018 at 08:41Hello . I am bit confused about STM32 HAL drivers packages and their versions.  i want to know the differences between KEIL software package Vs Cubemx fw version In keil it shows as 2.11 shown in below pic and the latest one available in cubemx software is 1.21 . my question is which one is newest ? if 1.21 , why it is not their in keil pack installer ?suppose if i want to create a project using keil but want to use 1.21 STM32 Cube fw drivers . how can i do that ?i know one option is launch cube mx software and mention ide as KEIL but i dont want use cubemx software. I just want to create a project using keil but use drivers given by 1.21. Thanks

Posted on September 02, 2016 at 15:52 Hey all! I am trying to see if I can eliminate the serial port version of MIDI and switch over to using USB MIDI controllers/keyboards instead. Searching on this forum (and Google as well), I see many attempts at creating this, mostly poorly documented and or proprietary (i.e. - MIOS), and other open source code that doesn't seem to survive the transition from GCC to KEIL, and the rest of what is available is written for SPL only. Is there an example of a USB MIDI ''Class-Compliant'' code that can be used on the USB-OTG port of STM32 Nucleo boards? Can an existing piece of code (like the USB Flash Drive FatFS 3rd-party examples in the v1.4.0 firmware) be modified to connect to USB ''Class-Compliant'' devices such as controllers or keyboards? Does it seem like a feasible task, or is it just too much work to get this to work on HAL? Does anybody have suggestions or ideas or comments about this subject? Thanks!! Christopher #usb-mid

Posted on May 12, 2018 at 05:47Hello - wrt the maximum total size of a BLE advertisement or scan response of 31 bytes:The BlueNRG-MS v7.2c Peripheral can generate either at max expected length. But when I run the BlueNRG-MS v7.2c Central, if the total length of either packet is > 18 bytes, then the corresponding ADV_IND or SCAN_RSP event is never received as a EVT_LE_ADVERTISING_REPORT event. The Central device of the embedded BLE stack of the 3 other vendor platforms I have evaluated can all receive up to the maximum total length of either the advertisement or scan response in addition to the BLE stacks on the iOS and Android devices. Is this observation caused by an error in my implementation of the ST BlueNRG Central, or is it a known and documented limitation? It is suspicious that the BlueNRG-MS Peripheral can produce either at the max length of 31 bytes, but the Central is limited to 18 bytes total. Even more suspicious is that the observed limit of 18 is less than a full length

Posted on May 02, 2018 at 19:09Hi all,I use a dsPIC33 MCU, but I am very familiar with the STM32 as well, so I used the ST25R Dicovery source code as an example.   The design is a PIC MCU and the ST25R3911B, (with our antenna circuitry following ST design suggestions).  I have the SPI port communication working well, and I can read/write to the ST25R registers from the MCU. 1. I currently call the initialization at power up (rfalAnalogConfigInitialize() and rfalInitialize()), with gets completed without errors.2. I now need to know what is the sequence of commands needed to talk to a tag.  We can talk to the tag (read/write) from the ST25R Dicovery PC GUI without problems, but I am not sure which commands need to be sent to achieve that in the embedded code, because I don't know the exact sequence of commands needed.  Here's what I do when I want to discover a tag placed on the antenna: a. I call iso15693Initialize() ... no error. (trying to imitate the '
