I am having a bit of trouble with the VNH3SP30-E overheating. the part should be capable of supplying 30Amps continuously however when I supply 20 amps the chip overheats and shuts down after around 10 seconds of operation . the wiring for the part is as it should be according to the datasheet. I couldnt see any heatsync requirements beyond the track widths of the pads under the chip. one thing i thought of was that perhapse i have misunderstood the specification and having 20 amps flowing from one half bridge into the other half bridge is equivalent to 40 amps? I dont think this should be the case. Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated.
