STM8 toolchain
2011-05-17 06:01 AM
Hello EtaPhi,
in fact there is a way (not really a hack, but kind of) to use the STVD7 toolset pack 13 for the 1st steps with the STM8A. It is available on the internet in the section www.st.com/mcu under downloads -> ST7 -> software for tools. Let me know whether you want to use this one or wait for the new toolset pack 14 which is about to be released (should be available within one week). According to your preference I will give you further instructions. Best Regards Alexander2011-05-17 06:01 AM
The ST site contains only some user manuals and one datasheet.
When the STM8 toolchain will be avalilable?2011-05-17 06:01 AM
Hello Alexander.
I prefer to wait the new STVD7 and do a clean install. I thank you for the quick answer. EtaPhi2011-05-17 06:01 AM
C compiler is
(free up to 16k). Regards, Luca (Cosmic)2011-05-17 06:01 AM
Toolchain is already available on ST website. It is called now STVD, instead of STVD7, in order to indicate support for more families.

RLINK is supported as an interface, but there is a need for adaptor. Therefore, RLINK 3.4 is recommended for professional use.
Anyway, there is a description of the adaptor connection available on Raissonance website But not all information were clearly stated (as today), so there is additional info: - a pull up resistor is mandatory to support data signal - Pins 6,12 and 15 should be connected together - there should be no difference in supply voltage between application and Rlink - overload resistors should protect the signals (between 0,5 to 1k)
