ST-Link Port Detection fails on STM32F765VGT6 & STM32L010RBT6

Hello @stforum

Please find the attached file for your reference.

I am encountering issues while attempting to flash a hex file onto the STM32F765VGT6 board using STM32 Utility. and I have used ST Link/V2.

Below are the specific issues:

Unable to Flash Hex Files: The hex files are not flashing successfully onto the board.

Target Voltage Detection Failed: The target voltage is detected as 1.2V on my PC, which is not as expected.

Port Not Detected: The utility is unable to detect the port.

Connection Settings in STM32 Utility:

Connection: SWD

Mode: Hot Plug (with Debug enabled in Low Power mode)

it is only detecting in hot plug mode but its not detecting in normal and connect under reset mode.

I have attached the output snippets and settings for your review. Could you kindly verify and guide me on how to resolve these issues at the earliest? Your assistance in troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to your prompt response.

Best regards,
Venkata Narayana Singh

What board?

Your title also mentions STM32L010RBT6 - is that on the same board?

Do you mean STM32 ST-Link Utility ?

https://www.st.com/en/development-tools/stsw-link004.html

Note that this is long obsolete - the current tool is STM32CubeProgrammer.

Is it a genuine ST one?

So have you measured the voltage on the target - at the MCU pins?

Hello @stforum & @stforum2 & @Andrew Neil

Please find the attached file for your reference.

I am encountering issues while attempting to Flashing Hex Files and ST-Link Detection on STM32F765VGT6 Micro controller.

Part Number: STM32F765VGT6

Environment:

  • Toolchain: STM32CubeProgrammer (version 2.19.0 for Win64), STM32 ST-Link Utility
  • Debugger: ST-Link/V2 Genuine debugger only.
  • Operating Systems: Windows (various PCs, one in India and one in the USA).

Scenario 1: Issue in ST LINK UTILITY

  1. Unable to Flash Hex Files: The hex files are not flashing successfully into the board.
  2. Target Voltage Detection Failed: The target voltage was detected as 1.2V on my PC, which is not as expected. I have tried this on different PCs and laptops with no improvement.
  3. Port Not Detected: The ST-Link utility is unable to detect the port.

Scenario 2: Issue in STM Cube programmer:

  1. The JTAG is not being detected on all PCs, and it is only being recognized on a few PCs. We are using the ST-Link/V2 debugger.
  2. We are running the STM32CubeProgrammer software (version 2.19.0) for Win64.
  3. We are using the same hardware setup, with one setup in India and another in the USA. In India, the ST-Link is being detected in the ST utility, and flashing works fine. However, in the USA, it is not being detected.
  4. When attempting to connect via STM32CubeProgrammer, it fails to connect, and an error appears (attached in the image below). We are also unable to update the ST-Link in ST Cube Programmer.
  • ST-Link device lost when exiting upgrade mode.
  • ST-Link is not in DFU mode. Please restart it.

Note: We are measuring a 3.3V voltage on the board, and the same 3.3V is observed on the MCU pins, as well as on all the microcontroller VDD pins. Additionally, we are getting 3.3V on pin 1 of the JTAG P1 connector.

Please find below attached the file st_forum_queries_09april2025, which contains all the output images, hardware connections, and a detailed description of the issues for each scenario.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve these issues. Looking forward to a positive response from your side at the earliest.

    Thank you

    Regards
    K Venkata Narayana Singh

Please keep the details in the post.

Hello,

Thanks @Andrew Neil for handling the post.

@NarayanaSingh, could you attach the logs with STM32F765VGT6 please ? The logs you attached are for STM32L010. Let's focus on the issue on STM32F765VGT6 for the moment. Also please only include information for STM32CubeProgrammer since ST-Link utility is NRND.

Thanks,

Aziz
