I have also the same problem. Is not visible on build log, but only at runtime the code and stdout - this hangs the software at very beginning stage. For my projects is blocking issue. Is there any solution to solve it?

For anyone running into this issue, I'd recommend replacing the _sbrk implementation with the attached file (generated using CubeIDE 1.8.0).
