[Abandoned] Information Center tab not displaying documentation

Hi,

I recently downloaded and installed en.st-stm32cubeide_1.17.0_23558_20241125_2245_amd64.sh.zip onto Debian Bookworm (fully updated). This proceeded without any errors or warnings.

On starting the IDE, a blank (i.e. black window) was presented, within the Information Center tab, that did not list any documentation. When I used a previous version of the IDE, this tab then showed links to various documents. Has this functionality been left out of the current version of the IDE ?

What do I now have to do in order to get the Information Center tab in the IDE to now show the links to the documentation ?

Hi AScha.3,

Thank you for such a swift reply. This afternoon, when I sent in my posting, I was using my local library's internet connection. (The library closed at 5:00 p.m. GMT). Now that I have returned home, I am using my home internet connection. In both cases, when I start the IDE (which I have just done now), the IDE opens with a black Information Center tab. Please see first attached screenshot. The second attached screenshot shows System Settings and that my internet connection is working.

ok.

And you checked in IDE : your web connection setting in IDE - ok ? check in preferences ->

Hi AScha.3,

As you can see from the first attached screenshot, I eventually found the
"check connection" button buried in Preferences/STM32Cube/Firmware Updater and
clicked it. This caused the display of the formerly missing green tick. Please
see the first attached screenshot.

I then implemented both Recommendations shown in that section. Implementing the
first recommendation did cause files to be downloaded and unzipped.
Implementing the second recommendation also caused files to be downloaded and
unzipped, in this case taking only a couple of seconds.

BTW, whilst I was in Window/Preferences/STM32Cube/Firmware Updater, I clicked
the Network Connections link in the Connection Setup section. This caused the
display of the Network Connections preferences as shown in the second attached
screenshot. Should I make any changes here ?

The result of this activity is that the Information Center tab still(!) remains
blank.

Is there something else I need to check/do ?

Hi Alhaqglass,

Thank you for your response. I copied and pasted the link that you helpfully supplied into the "Work with" field. The system did not "like" it and responded as shown in the attached screenshot.

Where do I go from here ?

Stuart

Hi,

so ide check : green - should be ok.

Only thing, i would try: the browser setting (because info page is a web based page)

- i have chrome in use and set here also to use it as default

Hi Stuart, the missing documentation links in the Information Center tab may be due to the IDE not having the documentation installed properly. Try reinstalling STM32CubeIDE and ensure that the documentation option is selected during installation.

Hi LilyRose,

Thank you for your response. So, how do I uninstall this IDE given that it was installed using the generic Linux installer from st.com ?

EDIT: Also I don't remember there being an offer to install documentation during the running of the installer.

EDIT2: I tried the uninstall/re-install process. I still(!) have a blank Information Center tab in the IDE.

Hi Ascha.3,

I have the same web browser settings as you, within the IDE. Also, I am using Firefox ESR which is set to my default browser within System Settings/Applications/Default Applications. Please see attached screenshot.
