Demo firmware doesnt work on STM32F769 Disco board

Kiran Nevaskar

I have purchased STM32F769 Disco Board. Post powering board from CN16 power LED turned on. Nothing appeared on LCD as described in Demo firmware. I reprogrammed FULL demo firmware STM32769I-DISCO_DEMO_V1.0.0_FULL.hex. LCD is struck at Blue logo. Nothing happens after that.

Hello @Kiran Nevaskar and welcome to the Community :)

I advise you to follow the instructions described in the readme file which is available under the same folder as Binaries under CubeF7 MCU package.

You can use the latest release either ST-Link Utility or STM32CubeProgrammer.

Hello Imen,

Thanks for your time.

I have went through the readme file and followed the instructions for flashing the full demo firmware. But it is not working. Post flashing I can only see Blue ST Logo.

I have downloaded binaries from

https://www.st.com/resource/en/compiled_demos/32f769idiscovery_demo.zip

If I flash STM32CubeDemo_STM32769I-DISCO_V1.4.0.hex binary from STemWin folder then I see the display as per attached image. It shows ST logo and and cpu specific details. But I cant see other icons showing options like audio or video player.

Not sure if received board has some defect or binaries has some problem.

Hello there,

the company i work for has recently bought the STM32F769 Discovery Board including the LCD-Screen.

After the first powerup the Screen showed only black and only the PWR-LED (LED6) turned on.

After downloading the Demofirmware from the official ST-Website and programming it via the STM32CubeProgrammer following the readme instructions given precisely, the Screen shows the ST-Logo and then stop there and wont show anything else.

did you found a solution for your described problem?

Justin

Hello,

I think board has some manufacturing defect. I checked with technical team of distributor.

They sent me the replacement. Replacement worked perfectly.

To debug I built multiple binaries from STM32Cube7 software package but nothing worked. Looks like some bad component (may be audio related) on board prevents firmware init process.

Thanks.

Regards,

Kiran

Hey Kiran,

thank you for your quick reply. Haven't thought about manufacturing issuses yet but the example projects given in Keil µVision (the toolchain we are working with) also just create random coloured pixels all over the screen. I'll do some debugging as you suggested.

Did you connect your supplier or ST-Microelectronics directly?

Justin

Hello Justin, I communicated with distributor.I dont what arrangements distributor has with ST. I am trying to say, demo firmware might be doing some init. During init, firmware is struck. I tried to run Audio using TouchGFX( STM32Cube7). It strucks at init audio in Audio app, it fails to play video as well. From that I had guess about some issue with Audio related hardware. Thanks. Check the board user manual revision history chapter. BOM may have changed and the demo sw waa not updated?
