I don't actually see much if any useful code being posted in this forum.

But I atleast can provide some of my own :

I am also working on (and hope to post soon) a port of the stm3240g Firmware over to the stm32f4discovery board.

You try hard to provoke me.

Why don't you go

''Keil ... is a PAIN to Debug - their own Headers Lib so you have to buy their product :(=''

Please would you explain what you mean by that?

It is certainly possible to build, download, and debug projects for STM32 Discovery boards using only the free Keil download (''MDK Lite'') with no need to purchase anything else.

Within the stated limits, of course:

http://www.keil.com/demo/limits.asp

ST provide example workspaces for Keil and IAR in the Discovery board downloads;

ST provide example workspaces for Keil, IAR, HiTOP, RIDE, and Atollic in the Standard Peripheral Library download.

Of course, you can buy proprietary libraries from Keil if you wish - but it is by no means essential.

Hi,

As I had good experiences with LPCxpresso, which is an Eclipse based IDE, installed and evaluated Atollic (TrueSTUDIO for ARM Lite 3.1.0)  and Tasking (TASKING VX-toolset for ARM Cortex v4.2r1) at first. The results are disappointing: bugs, compiler errors, other strange error messages or at least code size limit error when trying  STM32F4-Discovery examples.

Than installed IAR 6.4 Kickstart Edition which works fine.

No experiences with Keil for STM32 (  for developing firmware on Luminary Micro was a pleasure some years ago...)

For the first two, finding information on the web in case of a problem is not an easy task.

IAR and Keil are two, experienced companies providing tools for microcontrollers, which means less bugs, more information about their products. I recommend using their toolchains.

Regards,

Robert
