Hi
I want to use TIM2_CH1 as the timer_2 input capture and also use this pin to trigger timer 2 to start counting.
here is the code I use for configuring it:
static void MX_TIM2_Init(void)
{
/* USER CODE BEGIN TIM2_Init 0 */
/* USER CODE END TIM2_Init 0 */
TIM_ClockConfigTypeDef sClockSourceConfig = {0};
TIM_SlaveConfigTypeDef sSlaveConfig = {0};
TIM_MasterConfigTypeDef sMasterConfig = {0};
TIM_IC_InitTypeDef sConfigIC = {0};
/* USER CODE BEGIN TIM2_Init 1 */
/* USER CODE END TIM2_Init 1 */
htim2.Instance = TIM2;
htim2.Init.Prescaler = 1 - 1;
htim2.Init.CounterMode = TIM_COUNTERMODE_UP;
htim2.Init.Period = 0xFFFFFFFF;
htim2.Init.ClockDivision = TIM_CLOCKDIVISION_DIV4;
htim2.Init.AutoReloadPreload = TIM_AUTORELOAD_PRELOAD_DISABLE;
if (HAL_TIM_Base_Init(&htim2) != HAL_OK)
{
Error_Handler();
}
sClockSourceConfig.ClockSource = TIM_CLOCKSOURCE_INTERNAL;
if (HAL_TIM_ConfigClockSource(&htim2, &sClockSourceConfig) != HAL_OK)
{
Error_Handler();
}
if (HAL_TIM_IC_Init(&htim2) != HAL_OK)
{
Error_Handler();
}
sSlaveConfig.SlaveMode = TIM_SLAVEMODE_TRIGGER;
sSlaveConfig.InputTrigger = TIM_TS_TI1FP1;
sSlaveConfig.TriggerPolarity = TIM_TRIGGERPOLARITY_RISING;
sSlaveConfig.TriggerFilter = 5;
if (HAL_TIM_SlaveConfigSynchro(&htim2, &sSlaveConfig) != HAL_OK)
{
Error_Handler();
}
sMasterConfig.MasterOutputTrigger = TIM_TRGO_OC1;
sMasterConfig.MasterSlaveMode = TIM_MASTERSLAVEMODE_ENABLE;
if (HAL_TIMEx_MasterConfigSynchronization(&htim2, &sMasterConfig) != HAL_OK)
{
Error_Handler();
}
sConfigIC.ICPolarity = TIM_INPUTCHANNELPOLARITY_RISING;
sConfigIC.ICSelection = TIM_ICSELECTION_DIRECTTI;
sConfigIC.ICPrescaler = TIM_ICPSC_DIV1;
sConfigIC.ICFilter = 5;
if (HAL_TIM_IC_ConfigChannel(&htim2, &sConfigIC, TIM_CHANNEL_1) != HAL_OK)
{
Error_Handler();
}
/* USER CODE BEGIN TIM2_Init 2 */
/* USER CODE END TIM2_Init 2 */
}
It seems it works OK without any problem, at least I think so.
Am I right or there is a problem that I didn't consider?
By the way the CubeMX doesn't let me to do this and I change this line:
sSlaveConfig.InputTrigger = TIM_TS_TI2FP2;
to this:
sSlaveConfig.InputTrigger = TIM_TS_TI1FP1;
manually. so now what do you think? Is it a bug of cubemx?

I don't use Cube/CubeMX so I don't/won't comment on the code nor the problem presented at the end of the post, but generally, yes, you can use the same pin for input capture and trigger.

Thanks waclawek.jan
So ST guys what do you think? why CubeMX doesn't let me assign the pin as trigger and input capture simultaneously? Is it a bug?
