Hello Everyone, I am using STM32H573. Do we need to connect RS232 to UART transceiver or can we directly interface Rs232 signals with UART?

Hello @madhu1 ,

Indeed you need a transceiver. Example: ST3232

Hi,

CPU is at 0/+3,3V signal level, real RS232 maybe +/- 9 V signal ;

you need some interface, UART transceiver or similar. (without you damage the cpu ! )

Can I use a voltage level shifter and then connect to UART pins of micro?

If you mean by "a voltage level shifter" to replace the transceiver, the answer is no.

This is the ranges for RS232 with negative voltage:

So please use a suitable transceiver.
