Hello,
I purchased an STLINK-V3PWR from Mouser.
When I tried to use it, STM32CubeIDE 2.1.1 suggested updating the firmware. This failed, and the STLINK-V3PWR appears to be unusable (bricked).
What can I do? Return the device for a refund/replacement?
Or is there a way to re-flash the firmware using an STLINK-V3SET?
If it is possible to restore the firmware by re-flashing it, where can I find the correct firmware?
Kind regards,
Jack.

At that time it was connected to the target.
However, it did not power the target as it has its own power.

I ordered and received a new one.
I decided to just use it with the existing firmware (an lower version) and disabled checking for possible firmware updates.
Everything works fine.
The replacement for the defective unit is also on its way.
Thank you very much for all information:
- STLINK devices can't be recovered after being bricked by a FW update.
- STLINK-V3PWR draws more current than a STLINK-V3SET, and should NOT be upgraded using an USB-A connection.

I'm having the same problem. I put my ST-Link V3 into update mode and started the FWQ upgrade as instructed by CubeIDE 2.1.1. Then an error occurred, causing my ST-Link V3 to no longer be recognized. In the Cube programmer, the message “Error: ST-LINK error: Invalid ST_Link Firmware” appears. I can no longer find it in CubeIDE either.
However, my warranty has expired.
