Hello everybody, We hope you are doing well.
we planned to use ST25R95 chip to create a smart card reader that can communicate with all smart cards and java cards (MIFARE and NFC). we read in ST25R95 datasheet that this chip does not support write action in all standards(ISO/IEC). We know we can use PN512 chip that fulfills all needs we have.
Does anyone know PN512 can be replaced by ST25R95?
Can we have full read/write access to all tags MIFARE and NFC mode in all standards(ISO/IEC) by using ST25R95?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.

Hi,
all ST25R readers are able to send Command-APDU and to receive Response-APDU to/from Type 4 tags.

Hi,
ST25R95 reader supports
MIFARE is a generic brand covering several types of tags. For example, the Mifare UltraLight is a T2T tag that is supported by the ST25R95. I guess you are referring to Mifare Classic. Such tag use proprietary authentication and ciphering. ST25R95 supports the physical framing used for those tags. The support of the proprietary authentication and ciphering on top of ST25R95 cannot be provided by ST for legal reasons (see https://community.st.com/t5/st25-nfc-rfid-tags-and-readers/security-features-in-compatible-with-st25r95-tags/m-p/245273, https://community.st.com/t5/st25-nfc-rfid-tags-and-readers/cr95hf-mifarecard-1k-memory-read-write-method/td-p/87096 and others posts related to this topic). I would not recommend to use such old technology cards being now completely broken for more than 12 years.

Thank you so much for your reply.
We have another question, is it possible to send command APDUs to JAVA and DESFire cards and get response APDUs by ST25R95?
