Hi,
We are using a L6387E to drive two half-bridge MOSFETS of type STW20N65M5 or equivalent in a off-line DC/DC converter.
The circuitry in between consists of a 10 Ohm resistor, and a diode+3.3 ohm resistor in discharge-direction, in parallel respectively.
Supply voltage is 12V, half-bridge voltage is 325V.
Switching frequency is 50kHz.
We noticed that at high environment temperature of 45°C the 3.3 resistor together with the gate-driver failed. The datasheet tells 400 mA source and 650 mA sink current, although the IC might encounter around 12V/10ohm and 12V/3 ohm -> 4 Amps of peak current.
Is the driver current capability in the datasheet refering to peak current or average continuous current?
Thanks!
