I'm using the stpcvga.exe tools from ST to configure a custom screen. When I modify the CRTC settings, my VGA monitor is not able to synchronize anymore and it becomes quite difficult to use the tool.
Does someone know if there is any other tool more convenient? Thanks2002-09-24 11:26 PM
Lolotte,
You can modify the settings use by the remote platform. MS-DOS allows you to take control of your platform through the serial port. To start stpcvga.exe in the remote terminal you have to: -> Configure your serial port with the right settings. (For example, 9600 bauds, no parity, 8 bits with 1 stop bit: mode com1:9600,N,8,1.) -> Start the terminal in your remote platform and use this MS-DOS command: command com1 /c stpcvga.exe I remain at your disposition for any further information Tips2002-11-18 09:02 PM
Hello Lolotte,
You can also use a monochrome graphics card like old Hercule compatible card. DOS allow to use a at the same time both a monochrome and a color card together. This command: 'mode mono' switch to monochrome. This command: 'mode co80' switch to color (STPC internal). After a 'mode mono' command, you can start stpcvga.exe to configure the internal VGA and it is going to display the stpcvga interface on the monochrome screen. Only problem: it's quite difficult to find an Hercule card and a monochrome screen, a bit too old...
