Hi everybody,

I'm a rookie and I have to power supply an ARM710 from usb bus, where can I search further information?

Do I need an ''external'' USB controller or I have to configure the ARM for the enumeration?

Thanks.

Power on the USB bus has dedicated 5V and GND pins, rated at 500mA which is more than enough for an STR710. To simply power the STR710, you needn't configure any USB enumerations, but simply pass the 5V through a regulator of some sort and power the STR710 from there. My STR710 runs at 3.3V. If I wanted to get up and running as quickly as poossible, I'd use a 3.3V LDO linear regulator and a capacitor or two.

Thanks for your answer, are you sure I don't need enumeration, I know that usb bus provide a 5V supply but the current amount depend on the enumeration.
