H3LIS331DL capture drop events

I am using an H3LIS331DL accelerometer on a custom PCB. I wish to use it to attempt to capture some drop events. Using an analog accelerometer, I have seen that the drop event occurs within approximately 1-1.5 msec. Will this accelerometer be able to capture this? I am assuming the ODR rate of 1kHz is the fastest the chip is able to sample?

With 1kHz ODR you are abble to capture acceleration change with duration at least 1ms, so your case in on the edge. Moreover the sesnor H3LIS331DL has minimum range 100g so I suppose the drop will cause small change in acceleration which want be easy do detect with this sensor. I would rather use sensor with lower range.
