hi i am using NUCLEO-F429ZI and i am trying to connect a ST-LINK/V2 externally instead of in-bult st-link, i tried everything, it just says unable to detect the target

The SWD header is designed for OUTPUT not INPUT, review schematic, inject via jumpers, and disconnect NRST and SWO too.​
