Hi ,we are looking for a distance sensor that meets the below requirements
1.Working distance 5mm to 200mm
2. Resolution steps: 0.01mm steps

From a technical side, it is possible but we don't have such accuracy sensors.

The holy grail of the Time of Flight distance sensors is sub-millimeter resolution. I suppose it's possible, but it would be so expensive you wouldn't want to pay for it.
The basic problem is light runs at 6.66 pico second per mm - round trip. And a peco second is one millionth of one millionth of a second. Computers and circuts are fast, but they are NOT that fast.
The ToF sensors report distances in MM, but one has to assume a +/- 3% accuracy.
At the lowest level the sensor has to use statisitcs to get an answer. Light is just too fast to measure the distace directly.

1.can you list some of the ToF sensors and other poisitioning sensors if possible
2.only the sensor price costs high or the whole module ??

can you suggest any sensor for this ??
1. the base moves forward and laternal movements
2.sensor to track the movement of joystick (how miuch it is deviated from initial position )

The best sensor could be L4CD so far, but you won't get the resolution step of 0.01mm
