The “leave a reply” thing (clicking into which the editor appears) at the bottom of a thread appears/disappears as the thread is scrolled. This then leads to page “jumping” as it’s scrolled, as its size changes and things get recalculated on the fly.More importantly, the “appear” logic is wrong and when the page is resized to smaller size, that “thing” never appears. This - as all the other visual smog added for “modernity” - is entirely unnecessary and confusing. Just leave it there unconditionally.JW
I typed up a reply, all text, and hit submit. Then a message pops up saying Something’s gone wrong and my entire message is erased. No indication as to what happened. I’m logged in normally, nothing special going on from my side. Guess I have to copy my message to clipboard before hitting send.
This forum has a new ‘code’ format option - for source code keywords in the middle of plain text:It works fine provided, as above, you type the whole text first, then go back to add formatting. But, if you apply the highlight at the very end of a post, there is no way to “escape” - the whole of the rest of the post will be formatted!
Searching for tags when creating new topics does not match tags midword. Example: when searching for “Designer” the tag “TouchGFXDesigner” does not pop up… TouchGFXDesigner tag does not show when searching for “Designer”“TouchGFXDesigner” does show when searching for “Touch”
I find it hard to write text after I inserted an image. Especially between two images.I end up writing nonsense text first as a placeholder and inserting the images around that. Then I edit the placeholder text. The old forum had a html view where you could easily place the blinking cursor after the image closing tag.For example it is hard to put text under the first image: The cursor can only be set to the image caption below the first image:So then I need to delete the second image first to get in between.I also don’t see the option to set image size anymore. Is it always full size?
When selecting an answer as “best answer” the original markup does not show up in the “best answer” preview. See belowOriginal post“best answer” preview ignores the original markup
The code block rendering does not correctly color comments / multi-line strings with tripple quotes in Python:Screenshot of the code block rendering Python code with incorrect formatting for tripple-quote strings.Lines 2,3 and 9 should have green text as well.
When you type a YouTube URL while creating a post, you get a nice little preview:But when it’s actually posted, it becomes huge: I think this is excessive - especially when linking multiple videos! See also:
Please add (at least the option to) notify on post edits. The old forum had it. Notes:The new forum currently doesn’t allow editing the post title at all:https://community.st.com/feedback%2Dforum%2D118/can%2Dt%2Dedit%2Dpost%2Dtitle%2D165974And limits editing the post to 60 minutes:
The old forum used to save drafts of replies. So, when this happened: You could try again - and not lose everything you typed. This worked whether it was a forum error, a network error, user error (closing the page before hitting ‘Send’) or whatever. We really need this feature back - I have just lost two posts!
If I start a post at the root of the forum tree, there’s no “Product forum” autofilled, and clicking “Create” returns the following red message:which is confusing, as there’s no “category” in the form (that line refers to the “Product forum” line). Also, I’d omit the “public” from “Please add at least one public tag”. The public does not need to know that there are other tags than public too.JW
Sidekick is very interesting.Could you make it easier to access, for example by providing a desktop shortcut/icon, or by making it directly accessible from your website's home page, from STM32CubeMX and STM32CubeIDE, or even from other IDEs?
If I reply to a post, and then the user edits the post I replied to, there’s no indication of this on the forum. This leads to confusion. For example, my reply on this post doesn’t make sense in context anymore because the user edited the post. The old forum had this.It really feels like the new forum is missing a ton of basic functionality features. Oh we still can’t resize images in posts. Old forum had that ability as well. What did we gain by changing again?
In the previous forum I could insert an image and if it was too large or small, I could resize it. Now when you click on the image, the resize handles no longer show on the sides or corners of image. Instead, it shows “Insert image caption” below the image.
For questions relating to low-power modes. I wanted just now for a recent post related to low-power modes, and the Tag search didn’t find anything. But I’ve just seen that we do have PWR and POWER - so maybe this is just another case of improving the search?
How can I edit my post after submitting? There's no edit option anymore?
User can edit his post until several houses. I suggest to allow edit post forever. And any other user should have ability to see post history. This is how stackoverflow works. And people really improve their posts. Also in stackoverflow there is ability to edit posts of others. And random people really improve and update posts. It works like wikipedia. Let’s try the same system here?
It was possible on the old forum.eg, I’d like to fix the typo in this one:New community platfrom: Missing following and followers after migration
Why? JW
We’ve already noted the pointless notifications on a user’s own actions:https://community.st.com/feedback%2Dforum%2D118/don%2Dt%2Dnotify%2Dme%2Dabout%2Dmy%2Dcomment%2D166763 But the ‘Best Answer’ notification doesn’t identify when it’s my answer that was chosen: The old forum did used to distinguish “an answer has been marked” - ie, somebody else’s answer - from “your answer has been marked”
In general, I hate when things do this: Just tell me the actual date! But, if you are going to do it, make it accurate: To meaningfully reflect the actual date, that should say two years ago!If it’s going to talk in years, then the value needs to be to the nearest year. Or just show both ?
Right now replies are shown reddit-style, not classic forum style. An newer reply can show up much higher in a topic than an older reply. I don’t think it makes sense in a forum like this as you won’t have many nested discussions (if it’s off topic a new topic will/should be created). I only click reply on a reply so I can quote it and respond to it. Not to create a deeper nesting.I’d like an option to disable it.I saw it when I clicked a notification in this topic and it didn’t bring me to the post. I scrolled down and didn’t see a new post.https://community.st.com/stm32cubeide%2Dmcus%2D28/date%2Dmacro%2Dexpansion%2Dincorrect%2Din%2Deditor%2D132651I had to use CTRL+F to find it. Though I cannot reproduce that issue anymore.
TouchGFX uses so much C++ code, but there is no C++ language option when adding a code block// like so
It seems there are some threads still missing from the migration; eg, Is this a known issue?
My previous email ID was (redacted) but since i changed the company I’m unable to retrieve my old account sivavishnu09Please help me to merge that into this. Thanks, Sivapriya
