STM32CubeMX bug

SamVDA
Associate II

Hi,

When I create a new project on STM32CubeMX, it either freezes when I try to set up some peripherals, or I just get a blank screen when I try to reopen the porject after generating the code. I have tried rolling back to an older version, completely reinstalling, tried it on an ubuntu VM, switched devices, but nothing worked.

kind regards,

Sam

Hello @SamVDA

Thank you for posting.

Could you please specify which version of STM32CubeMX you are using and which operating system you are running it on?

I am running 6.16.1. I have tried on 6.16.0 and 6.15 too, to no avail. My system is windows 11, but I had the same results on a VM running Ubuntu.

Hello @SamVDA

Could you please provide your log .

hello @Ghofrane GSOURI ,

I have since uninstalled the devilish program, but the logs did not mention any critical failures.

What MCU/board did you select? How did you set up the project? Maybe you can screenrecord using a free program such as OBS studio. That way we can try to reproduce it. Can you try recording it?
I have Windows 11 and never had CubeMX freeze. There must be a unique combination on your system.
Check virus scanner? Check memory usage? Patiently waiting for a few minutes?

Hello @SamVDA

STM32CubeMX 6.16.0 and MX 6.16.1 are supported on

• Windows® 10 32 bits (x86) or 64 bits (x64), and Windows® 11 64 bits (x64)
• Linux®: Ubuntu® LTS 22.04 and LTS 24.04, and Fedora® 42
• macOS® 15 (Sequoia), macOS® 26 (Tahoe): x86_64 and ARM-aarch64 architectures

Since your operating system is Windows 11, STM32CubeMX should work correctly on your machine.
If there is any issue, it should normally be reported in the log files. As the logs do not show any critical errors, the problem is likely related to your local environment.

Let's try to uninstall STM32CubeMX and reinstall it again.
