The two NUCLEO boards NUCLEO-F302R8 and NUCLEO-L476RG are based on the same board MB1136, but besides the different target MCU (STM32F302R8 and STM32L476RG), e.g. some jumpers are equipped differently.
Since the target MCUs have different specifications, the procedure for such books must also be adapted. For this, it is very helpful if you are clear about what exactly you want to achieve in each case and then work through the documents of the two MCUs (data sheet and reference manual, see URLs above).
