Being more descriptive with your issue, already at the headline, would help a lot.

The STM32 discovery boards use to have ST-Link debug adapters, not OpenOCD.

Or do you have replaced the ST-Link firmware on your board ?

Looks like you are using wrong setup files for openOCD. Which debug interface are you using?

At least SWD should work fine with OpenOCD - I've been using the Eclipse-OpenOCD-ST-link-mini for quite a while.

There could also be ST-link USB-driver missing.

What's your board? Are you using ST-link-v2? Or maybe an on-board debug HW?

my settings are

board : STM32F407VGTX DISCOVERY BOARD (old)

I downloaded the latest AC6 system workbench from openstm32.org

i also installed stlink drivers from here https://www.st.com/en/development-tools/stsw-link009.html

and interestingly it works on other PC but having issue on mine.

I dont understand what is missing in my PC ?

Can't you configure your project to use the ST-Link debugger instead ?

Would be the easiest way.

I use to blame the awkward and un-intuitive forum software.

Not that it hadn't been mentioned, but there are nice and stable forum platforms available. (Just check some competitiors ... :o )

Maybe your OpenOCD configuration file is wrong?

In debugger tab (don't remember by heart) there should be something like "-f boards/stm32f4discovery.cfg"
