Ethernet MAC on 64 pin F2 processors

The product literature and feature table in the datashee (page 12), all seem to say that Ethernet MAC is only available on 100 pin (and upwards) STM32 F2 devices.

However, looking a bit further down the datasheet, it clearly shows that the ethernet MAC MII and RMII pins are all present on the 64 pin variant!

Can someone clarify whether or not any 64 pin STM32 F2 (not F1) devices contain (and can operate with) ethernet MAC or not please?

Simon.

A bunch of the MII, and several of the RII pins, clearly don't escape on 64 pin parts. Table 6

Only the F207 parts have ethernet, and looking at the Table 3 (pg 13) none of these are in packages below 100 pins.

OK well clearly it's not as clear to some folk as it is to others... ;)

Yes, there are some MII signals that don't come out on the 64 bit part, BUT they are only duplicates so from what I can see the full MII/RMII interfaces (including the serial PHY management interface) is completely present on the 64 bit part.  The only down side is that you lose various other peripherals if you use ethernet, but that would suite my application just fine.

It would be really good if ethernet works on the 64 pin part.

I've been thru the table and extracted the relevent information for ethernet on teh 64 pin devices :

11 MII TX CLK

30 MII TX EN  RMII TX EN

33 MII TX D0  RMII TX D0

34 MII TX D1  RMII TX D1

10 MII TX D2

61 MII TX D3

24 MII RX D0  RMII RX D0

25 MII RX D1  RMII RX D1

26 MII RX D2

27 MII RX D3

29 MII RX ER

23 MII RX DV  RMII CRS DV

17 MII COL

14 MII CRS

15 MII REF CLK  RMII RX CLK

 9 MDC

16 MDIO

I'm new here so I don't know if any ST staff frequent these forums but it would be good to get a definitive answer.

Personally I reckon it's the same silicon judging by the pin ordering of the various packages.

They are without doubt packaging the same die in different packages. Many of the parts have more memory than specified, and many have peripherals locked out.  Whether the 207 die is used elsewhere is something you'll have to discuss with ST.

Your problem however is that there are no STM32F207 or F217 parts in the form factor you seek to use, which part # are you looking at?

I'm sure if you're buying $10M+ of parts you might be able to make a deal (ie White Goods Mfg), if not you're probably out of luck.

You have a better chance speaking to someone at ST via the usual phone/email of your local ST rep or sales contact.
