Can the STM32L4+ RTC use an external LSE clock when in VBAT mode?

I couldn't find this mentioned in another thread, most discussion was based around LSE vs HSE & LSI. Basically, I'm wondering if we used an external 32.768 kHz clock with the STM setup in bypass mode, whether that clock could be used to maintain RTC while operating off of VBAT? I'm concerned that something else in the system may shut-down external clock function since nothing is mentioned in the datasheet, but I can't see why that would be the case.

We will, but I'd like to know what ST or others who have tried this think about it... is there other setup required, etc?

This is a primarily user-driven forum, with casual ST presence. If you want ST's support, you have to contact them directly, through web support form, or through FAE.
